Merle Coggins Posted March 5, 2009 Report Posted March 5, 2009 Personally I prefer it without the flames. However, if it was dropped, chopped, tubbed, and had a big engine... Merle Quote
OLD DODGE Posted March 5, 2009 Report Posted March 5, 2009 Very nice looking truck. Definitely NO flames. Quote
Bob_Koch Posted March 5, 2009 Report Posted March 5, 2009 I think flames have been overdone. it's time to give them a rest now. no flames. Quote
Mario Loya B1B Posted March 5, 2009 Author Report Posted March 5, 2009 Thanks for the replies. It was just a hypothetical question. I would never think of changing my truck. I will limit my modifications to photoshop. I think I'll chop it next. Quote
Reg Evans Posted March 5, 2009 Report Posted March 5, 2009 Thanks for the replies. It was just a hypothetical question. I would never think of changing my truck. I will limit my modifications to photoshop. I think I'll chop it next. While you're at photoshopping try one with the top removed ( roadster style) and another ,if ya want to get really crazy, with 12 or more inches added instead of chopped. Quote
BulldogTom Posted March 5, 2009 Report Posted March 5, 2009 I like the flames. I know I am in the minority. But if the bed was painted red also, it would look really good with the flames. Quote
Mario Loya B1B Posted March 5, 2009 Author Report Posted March 5, 2009 Reg, thanks for the homework assignment. I'll start working on it. Here is "Rojo" fully loaded when he was used at the Pilot House Lumber Co. established in 1949. Quote
woodscavenger Posted March 5, 2009 Report Posted March 5, 2009 I wanna see a roadster style photoshopped. I think with the solid axle it would lend itself to an open compartment, fenderless style with the right front grill. Show us what you can do. Quote
Young Ed Posted March 5, 2009 Report Posted March 5, 2009 How about this? Or this? Sounds like what you described but I believe this was a ford truck Quote
Reg Evans Posted March 5, 2009 Report Posted March 5, 2009 Man Mario...that's one tough truck! I see you have the factory "Heavy 1/2 Ton" overloads on the rear. Yessiree.......Kinda reminds me of the time I was up near Saragossa and picked up a 1/2 cord of wet oak in my Bizzy Coupe. Quote
woodscavenger Posted March 5, 2009 Report Posted March 5, 2009 I've never seen that purple one before. It looks like a chop with the A-pilars leaned back instead of stretching the roof. Do you have any other pics of it? Quote
woodscavenger Posted March 5, 2009 Report Posted March 5, 2009 Those tires have got to hate you Reg! That's one way to turn white walls into no walls. Quote
Young Ed Posted March 5, 2009 Report Posted March 5, 2009 Nope just the one. I agree the A pillar looks layed back along with shortened. Quote
Norm's Coupe Posted March 5, 2009 Report Posted March 5, 2009 I think the flames look good myself. But...it's up to you if you like them or not. Truck doesn't have to be lowered and chopped and diced for flames. Reg, I would never load down my coupe like that. In fact, if I did have an old pickup it would never haul anything either. Did the weight of the wood push the air out of the tire? I remember years ago my older brother went to a gravel pit with his pickup and picked up a load of gravel. The weight of the gravel flattened all four tires instantly. :D Quote

48Dodger Posted March 5, 2009 Report Posted March 5, 2009 Omg...are you kidding me? FLAME ON!!!! You guys have been to 2 many car shows, you've been burned out on flames. Fire is always good...well...except for real fire...that's just wrong. 48D Quote
Guest Dave Claussen Posted March 6, 2009 Report Posted March 6, 2009 I'm going with the minority here with some conditions though. I saw a truck with flames that were what someone called "ghost flames" They were just a shade lighter than the body color and you could only see them if the sunlight hit them just right but they were very cool. Some flame jobs are so over the top it's like the person who painted them didn't know when to stop. So subtle is better in my book. Quote
pflaming Posted March 6, 2009 Report Posted March 6, 2009 The classic look without the flames completes the truck for me. You're the one who is going to drive it. Great truck!! DO like the purple one also, might put flames on that. Quote
Don Coatney Posted March 6, 2009 Report Posted March 6, 2009 12 or more inches added instead of chopped. Reg; Now you are thinking like me. I would like to see any old or new car with added head room. I can barely contort my fat, tall, old, body into any modern car. I would like to see a modern car with 12 inches added to the top of the door opening. Even trying to get my body into a taxi cab is a real pain. I wont discuss airplane seat sizes at this time. That is fodder for a new off topic thread. Quote
carl b51 Posted March 6, 2009 Report Posted March 6, 2009 Well no Flames on the truck, But if you were going to haul a far load of wood I would say YES to the Dodge Coupe. Carl Quote
Willis Pingel Posted March 6, 2009 Report Posted March 6, 2009 I think everybody covered it but I'll throught my 2 sence worth in.[ no,no,no] Bill Quote
