steveplym Posted March 4, 2009 Report Posted March 4, 2009 This is interesting, guy turned a 4 door sedan into a sedan delivery. Does give it a different look, I would think it would be hard to see out the back though. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Plymouth-1947-PLYMOUTH-4-dr-STREET-ROD-RAT-ROD-NO-RESERVE_W0QQitemZ320344574312QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUS_Cars_Trucks?hash=item320344574312&_trksid=p4506.c0.m245&_trkparms=72%3A1171|65%3A12|39%3A1|240%3A1318 Quote
greg g Posted March 4, 2009 Report Posted March 4, 2009 Thanks but no thanks. Not my cuppa tea. Quote
RobertKB Posted March 4, 2009 Report Posted March 4, 2009 Why would someone do this? Maybe they figure a more door is less valuable so they did the fake panel delivery? I no like. Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted March 4, 2009 Report Posted March 4, 2009 It is different, if nothing else. If I had lotsa play money, I'd buy it for it's being different. There's a 40 or 41 Plymouth around here they did the same sort of thing to. Quote
moparjack44 Posted March 4, 2009 Report Posted March 4, 2009 Sorry, but I think kinda kool . Jack Quote
Norm's Coupe Posted March 4, 2009 Report Posted March 4, 2009 I think it looks cool too. However, a true sedan delivery would have doors that open from side to side in the back instead of just the trunk, like a true sedan delivery would have. The only thing about the red one is they didn't do a good job of smoothing out where they welded the rear door shut. You can still see where the door was. Quote
Young Ed Posted March 4, 2009 Report Posted March 4, 2009 Norm I noticed that too. I think maybe the rear door still opens. Quote
Norm's Coupe Posted March 4, 2009 Report Posted March 4, 2009 Ed, That's the picture I was looking at when I said they didn't do a good job of smoothing out the door after welding it shut. Not only that, but look at the paint job there. It's not even rubbed out. I missed the rear door on the drivers side being open when I looked at that picture. After seeing that, I don't think the car looks all that cool anymore. Both rear doors should have been sealed shut, then have a door replace the trunk lid. This is a half baked job to put it mildly. Quote
Young Ed Posted March 4, 2009 Report Posted March 4, 2009 I think the fact that the doors still open makes it more appealing. Its got the look but still functions. As for the doors at the back with how much the car slopes those would be pretty weird lookin Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted March 4, 2009 Report Posted March 4, 2009 So......what did they do, really.....??? Covered over the door windows and the rear quarter windows. If they didn't do anything too drastic, it might be possible the work could be un--done. But----it still needs several things done. has power rack, (pump there but needs installed) ,new gauges and all the dash and int. trim is powder coated red, rear door handles have been removed and smoothed, New Flats Red Paint, car starts and runs,I think the only things that it is short is a complete wiring harness and carpet for the floor. , In otherwords, new wiring still needed too. And, the new dash has not been installed either......at least they stuck with a P15 unit. Quote
Young Ed Posted March 4, 2009 Report Posted March 4, 2009 Is that some sort of weird reflection or did they stack 2 of the underdash panels that normally holds the ignition and the heater cables? Quote
Norm's Coupe Posted March 4, 2009 Report Posted March 4, 2009 Ed, I think you are correct. Looks like two panels there. Bob, I guess that explains why the car doesn't shine if they used flat paint. Personally I don't care for flat painted cars, other than those in black or gray primer. Quote
dezeldoc Posted March 4, 2009 Report Posted March 4, 2009 So............at least they stuckwith a P15 unit. So now ya pickin on me for puttin the chebby dash in mine. Quote
Young Ed Posted March 4, 2009 Report Posted March 4, 2009 Does anyone remember the 46-48 ford 2dr that had the p15 hatch grafted onto the back? It was floating around the forum along time ago maybe even on the old forum. Quote
moparjack44 Posted March 4, 2009 Report Posted March 4, 2009 Last year, I saw a 34 Chrysler, 4 door that was made into a sedan delivery. Used rear door from a PT Cruiser Sedan Delivery. Done by a father & son, painted (two tone) in the fathers garage. It was one fine Hot Rod, except they used a SBC (350) crate engine . Jackie Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted March 4, 2009 Report Posted March 4, 2009 I think a little better panel work would have gotten more positive posting for sure... Quote
Flatie46 Posted March 5, 2009 Report Posted March 5, 2009 I'd like to see more pics of the green 40 or 41 that Bob posted, it looks pretty good from that angle. The red one, Naaa. Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted March 5, 2009 Report Posted March 5, 2009 That green one is over in Carthage, MO (assuming it's still there).....the pic was taken a couple years ago. I've never seen that car anyplace that I've been. There is a blue one over in Kansas done the same way. Thought I had a pic or 2 of it, but don't know where I might have put them. That's the only pic I can find of the green one. I believe it was made from a 2 door sedan rather than a fourdoor......so that makes a little neater conversion. If I happen to get over there anytime soon (it's about 15 miles), I'll try to go by and take a couple more shots. Quote
Flatie46 Posted March 5, 2009 Report Posted March 5, 2009 Bob don't trouble yourself or get shot at or anything:D . Quote
