Speaking of hanging Christmas lights

I just got an email from my wife saying that she would like me to start hanging christmas lights this evening.

She also asked if I could pretend that I enjoy this yearly ritual.

So, I wanted to poll the members here to see how you feel about "hanging the lights"

I love the look of the neighborhood all dressed in lights for the holidays.

That said, for some reason, I absolutely hate putting up my lights. Probably because when it's time, I have a dozen other things to get done, and it usually turns bitter cold and snows a foot at the same time.

Maybe I should just leave them up like my wife's family... They have been stapled to the roof so long now that the color in the bulbs is gone... and are likely a fire hazard too...

Can I add that choice to the poll or is it too late? I use to get away with that one too Don because the 2 daughters were still at home and all three of them did it. The youngest moved out last year and I've been elected. The funniest part of this is that she wants me to "look like I'm enjoying myself"

This is the first year we have the boys moved out. I don't intend to hang exterior lights this year. I love the way they look, I'm just getting lazy.

In 30 years and 3 houses never hung out side lights. Like that famous ad against drugs I just say No. They do look nice and I do appreciate others who put them up. I also enjoy seeing them still up in July I guess they are more fun to put up then take down.

Oh man that is the truth!! My next door neighbor has had them up for the past 3yrs straight, but when thsy repo'd the house that was the first thing I made sure they did, pull them down!! she had some wraped around a tree and the bark was starting to cover them up!!

For some reason this year the stores had the displays up a few weeks before halloween!! what gives?? used to be after thanksgiving the displays would go up but it seems now everything is in a rush.

that my friend in the main reason for my attitute..they push the seasons and never let us enjoy the present one..as it is nothing but a time of high income sales to merchants..I do not take part...I say this because most all of you know I am NOT sending you a gift anyway.....lol

I had some net lights that were over the 2 bushes that used to be in front of my house. They were lit up for 1 christmas. I never took them off in the spring and the bushes grew around them. Pulled the bushes out a year or so ago and the lights went with them. I do have a christmas tree at home this year

A tree and a few lights inside are enough for me. The wife is disappointed that I didn't get lights up outside this year. With few days off and lots of painting to do inside, I just decided not to do it.

Well...the survey has ended and the results have giving me the courage to let my better half hang the lights. I hope the marriage doesn't end as abruptly as this survey has.

My mother in law is even here helping. I'm either really brave or just plain stupid cause the mo-in-law is carrying a hammer. This may be my last post. Just in case.......HAPPY HOLIDAYS !!!

Beyond a doubt your Lisa and my Lisa are related. They think the same way. Actually they sort of look alike too. No point in us swappin as we would both get the same deal:eek:
