Frank Elder Posted October 8, 2008 Report Posted October 8, 2008 I suppose a 6-volt workable spot is just a pipe dream. Frankie Quote
greg g Posted October 8, 2008 Report Posted October 8, 2008 6 volt bulbs are still readily available from many sources for fog lamps and spot lamps, you would probably need to beef up the wires some but a 12v spot could be retrofitted to 6v. Quote
Frank Elder Posted October 8, 2008 Report Posted October 8, 2008 I have quite a bit of brand new 6-volt wiring that is left over from rewiring the coupe, solder on some old school connectors, and it might even look dealer installed! Frankie Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted October 8, 2008 Report Posted October 8, 2008 Being as these spots are totally hollow inside, you might be able to put a bulb in them by being inventive. But they would have to remain in a fixed position since they have no handle to move them. You want a real spot light, go to Unity .com and buy either a 5 or 6 inch diameter real deal. They still make a new 6 volt light in either size. Quote
kevinanderson Posted October 8, 2008 Report Posted October 8, 2008 You guys with factory spots. Does the driver's side lamp rod cut into the windshield frame alittle bit? Quote
Uncle-Pekka Posted October 8, 2008 Report Posted October 8, 2008 I've bought (several) used Unity 6V spotlights from evilBay, but have not yet installed one. Please let me know, where is the best location to drill from inside the car. As Kevin remarked, there is tight space btw. door A-post and windshield frame. However, there is a triangle of flat area btw. dash, A-post and windshield, is that spot too low to go throught for the spotlight handle? Would be really useful to see some detail photos on the dash -A-post area of spotlight mountings. Thanks in advance, /Pekka Quote
kevinanderson Posted October 8, 2008 Report Posted October 8, 2008 There is a Unity template for putting the spots on. And you need to make sure that the rods are right for the car. I bought swap meet jobs and ended up buying new rods, or I guess shafts they're called. Anyone's two cents on the shaft coming thru the windshield trim? Mine did. Wish I had a digital cam to take a few pics. Quote
kevinanderson Posted October 8, 2008 Report Posted October 8, 2008 Oh, by the way. With the Unity templates, you drill from the outside thru the exterior mounting bracket. Which you mount according to the template. Quote
Young Ed Posted October 8, 2008 Report Posted October 8, 2008 The spotlight that was in my coupe(I removed it if anyone wants it) did not drill into the windshield trim. It did however seem to interfere with the opening of the vent window so I would say it wasnt quite properly installed on my car either. Here you can kinda see my spot light Quote
Frank Elder Posted October 9, 2008 Report Posted October 9, 2008 Found spots and fogs[unity] on www.kanter.com but they seemed a little pricey for me. They also had custom fog light covers with dodge printed on them, shiney chrome with black lettering. Could'nt seem to find the right unity website tho. Frankie Quote
