Guest Sams1950B2D Posted September 6, 2008 Report Posted September 6, 2008 I'm looking to get new tires for the 50 B2D126 1 ton this week. It came with some mud and snow treads. I think I want something a little smoother - more of a street tread. These are the truck style rims with split rings. I have the local co-op checking into it. Any suggestions here? Thanks, Sam Quote
PatS.... Posted September 7, 2008 Report Posted September 7, 2008 I was able to find new and used tires for my Fargo, but nobody would touch the split rims out of 25 tire stores I contacted. Quote
Guest Sams1950B2D Posted September 7, 2008 Report Posted September 7, 2008 The local Cenex Co-op didn't have any problem working on the split rims and they were confident they could get tires for it too. Guess I'll have to wait and see what they come up with. Thanks. Sam Quote
PatS.... Posted September 7, 2008 Report Posted September 7, 2008 One guy I talked to said to take them out to a rural tire store...never did try though. Glad you got a line on tires and a good shop. Quote

MBF Posted September 9, 2008 Report Posted September 9, 2008 Folks-these are locking ring rims, not split ring unless you have the type of rim that actually comes apart in the middle. If the rim and lock ring is in good shape any tire shop that does truck tires should be able to work on them-but not the ones that split in the middle. Make sure that you have the deep offset coined rims if you're going to run duals so that the inner sidewalls don't touch when mounted on the truck. Some 7:50 will scrup w/o a load on the vehicle so I've decided to go with 7:00 x 16's with a Cooper made (import)steer bias ply for around $90 a piece. Mike 1 Quote
David Muma Posted September 9, 2008 Report Posted September 9, 2008 What size is everyone running on their 1 ton trucks? Quote
4852dodge Posted September 9, 2008 Report Posted September 9, 2008 I'm running 6:50x16's on my B1D duelly. Quote
Guest Sams1950B2D Posted September 12, 2008 Report Posted September 12, 2008 The Lakes Region Co-op came through with some tires. They are 7.5 x 16 four-ply and more of a street tread which is what I was looking for - had some knobby looking M&S on there before. Price was a little more than I was hoping for but they're on and look good. Ride is better too. At the same time I had the rims sand blasted and painted. Quote
MBF Posted September 14, 2008 Report Posted September 14, 2008 Nice-so you were able to get them w/o the inner walls touching? If that's the case I may do the 7:50 route too. Mike Quote

Brent B3B Posted January 21, 2018 Report Posted January 21, 2018 wow, here is a "blast from the past" I dug this thread up looking for help on our B4D. What are you guys running on your 1 ton? my local "big box tire store" wanted $30. each to remove the old tire from the rims! so I removed the old tires myself the rims are off to be cleaned and coated...... the dilemma now is, do I use a bias tire again ($160 each) or if a 215/85/16 will work for the rears? (same price less $200. for shipping) on a somewhat related note, the cassis in the background of my video is a 51B3D and on one side, they have a home made "spacer" between the duals 1 Quote
Dodgeb4ya Posted January 21, 2018 Report Posted January 21, 2018 After watching that video I'm so tired I'm going to bed! Someone must have pushed in long studs to use those spacer plates... 1 1 Quote
Brent B3B Posted January 21, 2018 Report Posted January 21, 2018 yeah sorry about that .... I tried to slow down the vid (unsuccessfully) funny thing, the drivers side of that B3D has 2" studs and the pass side is 1.5" (didn't even know that was an option) do you have the cooper 7.50 x 16 on both front and rear of "the green machine"? Brent B3B Posted February 4, 2018 Report Posted February 4, 2018 wrapping up this project, we went with 215/85/16. used a 1" spacer and changed the wheel bolts....... bottom right= original bolt, the 9 o'clock bolt = a 3" bolt... we are using the upper bolt at a little over 3.75" 1 1 Quote

Julie picked the yellow choice and if she is going to drive it for "nursery hopping" as she put it, I figured radials would be the best. Yeah Davin, it WAS running decent until..... I pulled all the wiring and I am rebuilding the carb..... we will see.... Trying to make it to the "Q" again with it. 1 Quote
