  1. Lots of truth in this story.
  2. Centralia, IL huh? I go there for work quite often. Not a bad town. Staying on topic I need to do this for my car too. Probably going to wire mine to a toggle switch to turn it on and off when I want to.
  3. Thanks guys. Going to tackle headliner install next week. I'll let you know how it goes.
  4. I received my headliner and extra material from WLS headliners this afternoon. They have great service and looks to be a real quality product. Anyway, I'm wondering how the material is installed on the b pillar on my d-24? I see the windlace attaches to the tack strips, but not sure how the material gets fastened. Looks like you could glue it, but not sure how that would work exactly. Headliner and all was out of the car when I got it so I don't have much to go on. Thanks in advance for any help.
  5. I just noticed the pic of the parts book from GTK. Thanks for that info, shows me how the interior is supposed to look in my car. I hadn't seen that before, other than pictures Tim has sent me of his.
  6. Yeah the center arm rest is seperate from the seat frame just like you said and is bolted to the rear bulkhead. I still think it's neat learning about these old mopars and the similarities and differences between all of them. Thanks for the help Tim.
  7. Rear seat on a '48 New Yorker.
  8. After searching thru as many photos I could find online of rear seats on Chrysler products looks like the town and country and new yorker had the same seat configuration. Hey Tim, would have any way of knowing if those rear seats were the same as the town sedan? They look the same, but I know the body styles were different. Even though the rear doors on the town and country 4 door sedan look awfully similar to that of a D-24C town sedan. I'm trying to order upholstery for my car and of course the only pattern they have is from a D-24 regular sedan or coupe. They do have the patterns for the Town and country, but I wanted to do some additional research to see if they were the same. I wouldn't think the manufacturer would make several different seat sizes for different models, but they did on a lot of other parts so what do I know.
  9. Need some education on the rear seat in my town sedan. Is the rear seat back with the fold down arm rest a option only for the Dodge town sedan or was it a option on other models? Including Chrysler, De Soto, etc? Here's some pics of it.
  10. Looks good Bob. Bet you can't wait to get it on the road. Once the weather cooperates.
  11. Yeah I've heard good things about those. Do a forum search and I think there a few threads with info on them.
  12. So it definitely will fit Tim?
  13. I've tried Roberts and Steele, haven't checked w/ Neil riddle yet. I'm pretty sure it is a different size from front to rear vent windows. I'll have to look again though. Didn't really think of that.
  14. Anyone have a vendor for the rear vent window glass weatherstrip on the '47 d-24 town sedan? I haven't been able to locate any, and have some homemade ones on the car now.
  15. All is good in my neck of the woods. New minden, il got hit about 45 mins north of me and brookport got hit as well 1.5 hrs south of me. Looks pretty bad in those areas with tornado damage, but i think Peoria got the worst of it in Illinois. Job security for an insurance adjuster.
  16. Any updates on your headliner purchase olddad67?
  17. I've got an sbc with a 350 turbo in my '47 Dodge. It fits nicely without any firewall modification. With the fat man front I've got rack and pinion steering and disc brakes. The car drives just as good as my '04 Dakota and sbc parts are a cheap and easy to find. I bought the car this way, so I do not have any first hand knowledge of the swap. I do have friends that have done several '40's mopar street rods and say it is not a hard swap, and there are a lot of parts available to help. Whether you go 350 or 318 or whatever you decide. Vintage air is easy to add to this setup and cruise control is just as easy. Let me know if I can help you with any info James as you venture into this project.
  18. Welcome to the forum, nice to see another fellow Southern Illinoisan on here.
  19. Thought I would post some more pics. I have driven it quite a bit the last couple of weeks, over 500 miles. Taking the wife on a fall drive in it next weekend down to Henderson, KY. Hoping to see some fall colors. I can't get over how much bigger and roomier the Dodge is compared to the Plymouth. I thought the Plymouth was big, looks compact next to the Dodge. Still love the look of the '40's mopars. If I had the space and money I'd buy more.
  20. I hear that Bob. Last time I replaced my wiper motor I got quite a headache. Too much blood rushing to my head.
  21. Should have fasteners on the back side, once you get the dash out it comes off pretty easy.
  22. Glad you made it home. I was on I-57 and I-64 a lot today between Mt. Vernon and Nashville, IL., Down to the Benton exit. Looked for you guys heading southbound or east, guess we went through at different times.
  23. I can't blame you there. After a week of living in a hotel I'm ready to head home. Bet you are well past being ready.
  24. You guys gonna make it thru Missouri and Illinois?
