  1. It does on my dodge Phil. Not sure on other models.
  2. Additional information on the sending unit. http://www.tanksinc.com/index.cfm/page/ptype=product/product_id=276/mode=prod/prd276.htm
  3. On my '47 Plymouth converted to 12 volt, I am using the original gauge and sending unit. If your original sending unit is working fine there is not need to replace it. I've got a runtz resistor wired in series before the hot wire on the back of the gauge. That is the one coming from the starter button, which is getting it's power from that feed wire. 12 volt will most likely damage your 6v gauge, but with the resistor it works great. Sending units are not voltage sensitive, but the gauges are. If your sending unit is bad then there are several folks here on the forum that have used a 12 volt alternative, seems there has been a lot of talk about that in the past, so you may do a forum search to read up on that information. If you are looking for a new fuel tank rather than a used one, the Tanks, inc tank is a good choice and after looking at their website they do offer a new sending unit you can purchase as well. Not sure if it is compatable with the original fuel gauge though. http://www.tanksinc.com/index.cfm/page/ptype=product/product_id=226/prd226.htm
  4. Yeah check the number on the left side of the motor, that will tell you what you have. I just picked up a T motor a couple weeks ago as a spare and had to do some checking to see what I have. Should be a 218 like Merle said.
  5. Don't forget pipe sealant on the bolt threads.
  6. Just my observation and my opinion of course, but if I get out of my '04 Dakota and get in my '47 dodge with the fatman kit. I notice the '47 drives considerably better. Lots to consider with tires, etc, but it's just my two cents.
  7. Also check the date stamp on the driver's side behind the dist.
  8. Merry Christmas!
  9. Merry Christmas to all, and to all a good night!
  10. I think that lower bar bolts to that lower tab on the latch. I can get you a pic of my '47 if you need it to compare. My latches freeze up too, get some pb blaster or you favorite penetrating oil and soak it a bit. It will give sooner or later.
  11. Probably being held in by suction and may have been a while since it's been changed. You can get replacements at NAPA pretty cheap, and I think I have a wix filter # somewhere that will crossover.
  12. To my recollection more exiciting things happened after building the car and getting it on the road. Driving the last 50 miles on my way to Jackson, TN a couple April's ago, with little to no brakes was definitely exciting. Hole being rubbed in the brake line at the rear was the cause. Not the kind of excitement I want to have on a daily basis though. On a happier note taking that first drive after adding dual exhaust and dual carbs was really fun. As was driving it for the first time with a BW R-10 overdrive.
  13. Some additional info for you that is in the reference section of the forum. Check that out, there is a lot of useful information in there. http://p15-d24.com/page/p15d24/reference/d24_spotters_guide.html
  14. Glad you were able to get the Plymouth out Bob. I had the Dodge out last weekend, drove over to a restaurant where a few of us car guys got together with the wives for a Christmas get together. Temps were in the mid 50's that day. Probably will be a while until it warms up again. Gotta get those old cars out to cure cabin fever.
  15. Congrats, can't wait to see the pics!
  16. Mine freewheels in direct drive only, not in OD. Once I get below 30mph and the relay kicks off it goes back to freewheeling. With the cable pulled out or od locked out, it will give me engine braking. At that point though it is basically a manual 3 speed transmission.
  17. No problem rfcr, i didn't know that was your thread until after i posted the link.
  18. We discussed this a few months ago too. Here's a link for some additional info. http://p15-d24.com/topic/36494-interior-swap/?hl=seats
  19. Great news Bob, glad to hear the stress of all that is over. Blessings to you and your family in the coming new year.
  20. Every time I'm in a restaurant, and there is a roll of paper towels on the table I remember Norm. He always hated that. :-)
  21. Looks good. Love the way an old car looks at night, with all the lights and shine.
  22. My 47 dodge and 47 Plymouth are completely different. Body, bumpers, and all.
  23. I had the same problem Ed. With three girls and my son couldn't fit them in the truck anymore. Sold my old truck and bought the town sedan. I can fit just about everyone, but mama in right now on a short trip. Good excuse to take two cars. Everybody has a personal taste, but I still like a four door. These old mopars sure look neat as four doors. Two door sedan Tim menitoned is another favorite of mine. Good thing about a club coupe would be you can keep the larger trunk still.
  24. I bought a set from Roberts. No issues.
  25. Everything on the dodge is bigger than the Plymouth.
