  1. Could a control arm bushing be binding? Do they need grease?
  2. How come the Syracuse newspaper pattern department was in NYC??
  3. And the grille between the headlights may mean there is an engine up front.
  4. I met AB at a National Chrysler Products Club meet in Gettysburg, PA around 1978. He rubbed me the wrong way then (attitude problem), and he's still the same today. I guess a leopard can't change his spots.
  5. Irwin Lincoln-Mercury is still in the same building on Route 9 here in Freehold, NJ. It has been modified quite a bit over the years. Matawan Ford isn't around anymore but the building is still there.
  6. Bob, Sorry to hear of your loss. My thoughts are with you and your family. Harold PS: I had a semi-famous cousin who was a professional boxer living in a retirement home in Florida. I promised myself that I'd contact him to learn more about him and his part of the family. That will never happen because I learned recently that he passed away a couple of months ago. Maybe we should all make that phone call, write that note, or whatever else we intend to do TODAY instead of tomorrow because no one can predict the future.
  7. When I lived in western New York I saw lots of people go crazy over the most mundane car just because it was rust-free.
  8. Was there anything good in the glove box??
  9. I'd try using one of those dental floss gadgets that looks like a plastic toothpick with a loop on the end to get behind the latch and give it a yank. Less chance of scratching anything because the plastic is softer than metal. I'd also put some blue painter's masking tape around the area befor doing anything, to minimize the chance of scratches.
  10. My wife and son watched it and told me it was amazing. I was busy making Z's.
  11. I saw the ad for my '52 Cambridge the night I got my '51 business coupe in 1988. I jumped up so fast that the bathroom almost got a skylight! So those have been with me for 22 years. I also have a '66 Sport Fury convertible since 1985. It makes 25 years for that one. Time sure flies, doesn't it?
  12. When I lived in Buffalo in the late 1970's, there was an old woman using a Model A as her daily driver. Based on her age (I got a real good look---she nearly ran me over with the car one day!) I'd have to guess she was the original owner.
  13. The water in the spark plug well could be coming in from the gap in the 2-piece hood. It's covered by the stainless trim strip running down the middle.
  14. Years ago, when you could still see bidder ID's and dig deeply into past auction results, I seriously thought about bidding on a very nice '51 Plymouth. I started researching the seller, and discovered that his cars always seemed to attract the same three bidders, and he was bidding up their stuff as well. I held off on bidding, and, lo and behold, the last $3,000.00 of bids were propelled by the same three people. An outsider got the car, and I really think it was a case of bid-running. I even notified eBay, with detailed data that I had accumulated, and they did nothing about the seller, as usual.
  15. The same seller has a P15 listed as well: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Plymouth-Special-1948-Plymoiuth-Special-Deluxe-/250737522721?pt=US_Cars_Trucks&hash=item3a611ef821
  16. That's a very clever tool. Did you make it or buy it?
  17. Only if enough of the seller's friends bid on it!
  18. My daughter goes to school in Geneseo, about 30 miles southeast of Rochester. For some reason, that area gets nowhere near the snow of Ra-Cha-Cha or Buffalo.
  19. Fourth from the left in the top row looks like '51-'52 Plymouth.
  20. Really a diamond in the rough. Great score!
  21. Have you checked the vacuum advance diaphragm and the distributor in general to make sure the timing is what it should be? Another cause of hard starting is a stretched timing chain (if that engine has one).
  22. The hubcap key sometimes cam tied onto the lug wrench. There was a master kit that GM dealers had so they could get the wheelcover off if the car didn't have the key. Once you find a match, the key can be ordered by number.
  23. Who owned the surplus mail truck?
  24. One of these years....
  25. You're right. Sorry about mis-quoting.
