  1. Not logical to be thinking about another new pair of cylinders. But **** happens. My startup procedure mentioned good shoes, clean drums, no leaks. Adjusters are working but don't help the problem. No change by tweaking the left. This is way more than a minor pull to the right. Squealing the rubber at 5mph. Thought I was onto something with an anchor bolt out of line, so put in position, but luck refuses to come my way. Multiple adjustments are achieving nothing. Nothing was done to the brakes when this started the other day. Disgusted and confused.
  2. Sorry, to dangerous to be driving, even 1 mile to the show. And if it stayed locked up, I would be stuck. Testing is done in the driveway. Maybe around the block. But yes rechecking the left is on the agenda. When a helper is available want to try a re-bleed to make sure lines are open.
  3. The 2nd car show at the beach 9/4 had more entries. Problems with mine so I was disappointed not be be there. No pictures to bore you this time. But better with Mopar. A nice '35 Plymouth 2 door sedan with a 454. A super clean '52 Dodge Meadowbrook, with a 283. And a 90% restored '47 Fargo. Maybe next time.
  4. Perfect, my manual says the exact same thing as Don's image. Will be checking again today. Might need a bigger hammer. Frustrating when things appear correct but they are not.
  5. Drats, couldn't make it to the car show today. Brakes seemed to be working OK, but now right front is acting up. Not just a slight pulling to the right. What might be causing those shoes to jump out, GRAB the drum, lock up and squeal the tire? Have tried multiple adjustments with no success. Both front cylinders are new, no leaks. Shoes & drum OK. Springs and hardware in tact. New rubber hose.I'm baffled as to what is going on in there. Back up in reverse, hit the brakes, and everything is fine. Hoping some of the experienced wizzards here may have a clue to help resolve this issue. Have no idea why this one front would be grabbing so badly. Brake system is stock, the 49 Chrysler..
  6. Anybody see the Help Section or FAQ's?? I'm getting "Gallery Update" pictures on my home page and can't get rid of it.
  7. From the album: 49 Chrysler Beach Cruiser

Intended to be a beach cruiser, not a show car.

Back together after the paint, cruising the beach.

Lots of chrome on this buggy.

The jalopy arrived here in the winter.
  14. I had to drill out the 4 screws behind the screen to get the cowl flap off. The "hinges" worked OK. Good suggestion to remove the vent to have better access to the hinges.
  15. Start with a good washing. I was recently pleased with Maguire's "Ultimate Compound", 16 oz. liquid, $9. Applied by hand it produced a nice quick shine. Did the whole car in no time. Polished up shiny with soft clean cloths. Top it off with a coat of your favorite wax. I'm using Carnuba. Your ride will be spiffy and ready.
  16. My link to the forum said site not found AFTER the upgrade. Now it is working. The page I go to: http://p15-d24.com/forum/3-the-forums-of-p15-d24com-mopar-cars-and-trucks-from-mid-1930s-to-late-1950s/ Still has the banner ad at the bottom suggesting PICTURE CLASSIFIED ADS (which stopped before the upgrade) The classified "link" to buy/sell is only on the home page. I never go there..Why isn't it on EVERY page? You still have a topic "Buy/Sell Ads", dated 2013. Either update what you offer, or remove that ancient post/change it. YOUR ANSWER: Roll over the topic title with your mouse to see the last reply posted without having to go to the thread. The number of "Answers" (aka replies) is displayed on the right. 25 answers per page. ME: Sorry, I'm not going to waste my time "mousing over" topic after topic. The last reply used to be visible, now it is not. Bad idea. Put it back the other way. Enough whining. For now.
  17. Clicking around to learn. Already commented at their new welcome post.
  18. Finally got in, after "site not found" errors. Now to bounce around and enjoy the changes. What's with this box that pops up on EVERY click, do you want notifications? That's annoying. I see topics show who started it and when, then only show the number of replies. It used to display who made the last comment and when. Nor does it show the number of pages in that topic. Why is the link to classified only shown on one page? Will be happy to read and post. Hope your work for this major change is successful.
  19. Thanks, 4007 "looks" identical. Wonder if the bracket fits. Always consider what the options may be when looking for parts. Gosh, fiddling the best I can with limited wisdom and skill to achieve proper operation. A snail could outrun blade speed. Maybe 49 you needed to grease the blades! Ha. Test will try to see if I'm losing voltage from the switch to the motor. Used working replacements are elusive, it's a Chrysler. Rebuild $$$ are not in the budget, yet. The jalopy always has a new challenging project.
  20. Great clues, now up to 2 out of 3. Confident my 4001 motor is the original. Would have to see a 4007 to compare. And speed is controlled at the motor. I love you guys and your secret stash of data. Guess it's coming out for another complete bench test. Fast should be faster than slow. A little luck wouldn't hurt.
  21. Nice cruiser.
  22. Gosh, a mess as to which motor may have been used in specific models. Pictures of the EWH4001 clearly indicate it will not fit my 49 Chrysler. (It's a horizontal mount motor) Piecing together 60 year old data is tough.
