  1. Question 7 was answered in #4.
  2. Sounds good, get the sockets clean. Nasty wires caused my replacement too. I did keep the original fiber plate with contacts & spring, someday will just solder new wires to them for extras. Frugal! Next time at the parts store, pick up the little packet of bulb grease, it helps. Watch what gauge wire. I used 16 ga SXL automotive wire, very flexible and abrasion resistant. Some say use 14 ga. Still 6V right.
  3. 2¢ here. Baffled with similar R-F problem. Everything looked good. One day sprayed shoes down with brake cleaner. Stopping worked great. 4 days later problem returned. This helped confirm that although the shoes looked OK, they were contaminated with something.Replaced front shoes. Stopping power has been good ever since. Good luck chasing down all the possibilities.
  4. The new contact plate w/spring goes in from the top. Cut wires and pull out old. I replaced both one & two wire plates and the metal socket only needed a good cleaning. You're still hinting that your socket itself may be in bad shape? Multiple varieties of complete sockets are available that fit your bulb pin style. It looks like some sockets are 'crimped' to the housing. Think newer ones just 'snap' into the hole. Figure out what you got, then study replacement options to get it attached back in. Don't know if that material can be soldered? Can you post a picture of yours?
  5. Producers should read the forum when they need cars to rent.
  6. Make it stock, and clean. Restore is different, and a bigger wallet.
  7. Not bad, considering the newer one is catching up to it on rust. Your project may include repairing, fabricating as well as shopping. Good luck.
  8. Perfect twosome hanging around the sausage stand. No short sleeves here. What'd ya buy, what'd ya buy?
  9. Fabric or rubber cowl lacing is easy to find. Seems odd that such a thin piece would cause or solve your problem. Tape a similar thickness material at that location and see what it does?
  10. All my parts seemed OK, but gauge didn't work. With everything removed for bench test got gauge to move by moving float. Replaced (defective?) wire to sending unit, and new ground from sending unit to body. Problem solved.
  11. Maybe helpful body parts listed here by models: http://www.route66hotrodhigh.com/TechSheets/index.html
  12. Cheers. Sounds great. Beautiful cars. You limit to 46-48's? No cake left either.
  13. If a 'Wanted' item is found, we should be able to delete the post. Or will there be a "Found" button?
  14. Great views. That must be on your Blue '48? I don't see any vent window bar obstruction. May consider driver side convex, could just tape it on for a test. The 4" stick on is only $2.
  15. We'll be ready to cyber visit. Awesome cake!
  16. Thanks to my Dad we acquired the Anchovy taste at about 8. Sunday morning at the kitchen table was time to stuff Green Olives with Anchovies, the gourmet treat in a good Martini. They served a lot. A little chunk will give you the flavor. DON'T pick up a salty filet for a taste. Just put a can on the shopping list. + Queen Olives. + Vodka/Gin.
  17. Good work "Rocky". Passing a small one is not pleasant. That pizza would have had Anchovies. I'm keeping 3 doctors in new cars now. Makes one wonder about ability to do jalopy hobby.
  18. YIKES! I thought the space allowed for attachments here would give you around 3,000 photos. Have fun deleting 10 yr worth. Takes some extra effort to do the free photo service sites. But good to make albums, and your images are stored should disaster strike your computer. Of course you back up stuff on an external hard drive too?
  19. Have to mention that since post 2 & 3, key starting has been fine. And good to see other suggestions, those kinds of tips that are probably not readily available from normal sources. Saved for reference. Thanks.
  20. Nobody OK'd Big Daddy? Since there is no water in it, that could be a food bowl for a BIG dog.
  21. Good reading Sharp. Of all the rainbow colors, green seems to be winning here.
  22. The 'Img Link' puts the photo in the ad, same as putting one in a regular post. Those pictures are not uploaded onto the forum server space. Or yes, you can put in a 'clickable link' for the viewer to see your photo. Responding to an ad, the owner can also PM you a photo, or send it direct if you provide an email. There must be some other techie reason why 'attaching' a photo to an ad is not allowed.
  23. Perfect. Has the 'gangster' look.
  24. The passenger side was useless, which is why I added the convex to improve rear visibility. And moved it down, to see the mirror better behind the vent. Styles vary, I don't care for the Swan Neck. This has 2 adjustments, at the base and the mirror head. Might regain the old ability of looking over the shoulder.
  25. b ski, "You may include a link to images on your own personal server like Photobucket or Shutterfly." Images uploaded to the forum take up valuable real estate.
