  1. I can achieve the same results... After busting my butt with coat hangers, steel rods, and using a power washer. THEN I will wire wheel down the block.... I like your method much better! Why didn't I think of that? Neato!
  2. I always kinda figure if you wanted a chevy and it's short comings, go buy one. But it's your car, you can do whatever you wish. As a daily driver, the good old flatheads are notorious for being sound engines. With the time, effort, and fabrication that you will endure..... Going with another flathead would be cheaper in the long run. Plus you will most likely get better gas mileage, more savings to consider. I put a small block Chrysler, the better SBC, in my 1959 Dodge D100. I was able to find everything I needed to make it a bolt in. Just a little of information to think about. I wish I still had that truck! I miss it dearly.... Good luck on your adventure, I hope that you find the best path to suit you. P.S.- my first car was a 1957 chebbie, I owned many chebbies since then as a matter of fact.... The first Mopar I owned was so much more of a car. After owning that 1969 Valiant, I have decided to be a Chrysler only guy(now for over 20 years). Other than my work car throw aways that achieve over 30 MPG to help me drive 80,000 miles a year to do my job.... LOL.
  3. Let us know, I hope that everything will be fine.
  4. My engines look just like that too...
  5. Your 1957 sounded amazing! And what a beauty it must have been. I loved the way the 1957 looked. I dream someday of finding a K Model, all original.
  6. The Evo I reclaimed is a 80" big twin with Delcron cases. I am not sure if I should leave it as a 80", or make it into a 96"... Sigh. Decisions decisions! If I use a Softail chassis, I will need as much torque as I can get to lug the heavy thing around. If I score a FXR, different story, those things are the best I ever rode period.
  7. Definitely a good place to start. If you can get it running afterwards, provided that the valvetrain in it is OK, it should help re-seat the rings.
  8. Ahhh... 45" of raw v twin power, 3 speed trans with reverse.... Not exactly a 65 MPH machine, but they run great and are fun to ride. I love how they look too...
  9. This guy planted trees on our property, in the middle of the driveway... Sigh
  10. I purchased my Sportster when it was new. I will keep it forever, after all, I built it to suit my needs over the past 15 years. I located the engine out of my first bike build from 1992 and purchased it. I plan on putting this Evo big twin into a larger bike configuration. I am leaning on building a fat boy.... I can build a Softail cheaper than a FXR... So that's my dream after I get my Plymouth done. The sporty is light and I can manhandle it well. It is the only motorcycle that I purchased "new" from a dealership. I can't part with it willingly.
  11. This is the first time that I have ever had an issue. I normally get along with everyone I meet. But it is what it is....
  12. Karma laid a hand in in that one... Crime doesn't pay! Youza!
  13. One of my riding buddies just retired his Harley Davidson. He bought a convertible T-Bird to take it's place. His knees are failing and he could no longer pick up his bike. The down side of making it into your 80's...
  14. One thing I learned in life is Fun=Risk taking.... If I die riding my bike, or driving my 1930's Mopar, then I will die happy.
  15. My horseback riding injuries far exceeded injuries sustained on my bike. I went down 17 years ago, and bounced off the CA 94 freeway at 75 MPH. The worst part of it all was the motorcycle bounced off of me, that saved the left side of it from damage. Because I am big on wearing leather protection, my injuries were a sprained shoulder and some bruises and minor road rash.... I still own that same Harley Davidson today. The horses kick, bite, and aim you towards large bodies of water and tree limbs during training. I broke my wrist once, and have sustained some aweful abrasions while training. One of my student horses encountered a rattle snake, being startled and fearing of being bit, I got a full on rodeo experience and lost my grip. I landed on my right palm, which bent my hand up against my forearm. Cracked 4 bones in my wrist. I finished the training that day, and I am against spurs btw, I still have the horse it's reward(sweet feed) before driving to the hospital. Being a mechanic can do a number on you too! LOL
  16. I am easy going to, this whole thing is complete BS. We are filing a Cease and Desist letter, the lawyer and our family trust are reviewing the details. Step one has begun...
  17. Thanks Keith, I help everyone I know. I just can't understand why this guy had to move next to us... Whatever doesn't kill you makes you stronger I suppose.... Sigh
  18. Yeah, I am thinking of talking to my code enforcement folks in regards to my Kansas property. Perhaps I can get a good storage site built there and begin moving my stuff....
  19. Can't wait to see it with paint on it. Nice work!
  20. Hope you heal up soon.
  21. Whenever I can escape California, I love being at my "real" home in Herington. I was born and raised in the "little apple", Manhattan. I even attended KSU... Good to know of some Kansas folk out there. Perhaps I can visit some of you?
  22. Hopefully your engine block will check out good with no cracks.
