  1. Welcome to the forum! Rear brake drums require a special tool. Without the tool you will most likely destroy the threads on the end of your axles. Which part of the US do you reside in?
  2. I am curious about turbocharging one of these engines. Is it a viable solution when it comes to gaining MPG? I would think that the turbo would need to be somewhat small in size. Or am I totally wrong?
  3. $2.10 a gallon? Must be nice, we get raped in California and have to pay 30% more. But then we don't experience winter here, so it's a trade off.... I visited mom in Kansas for Christmas vacation in Kansas. -7°F.... I don't miss it. LOL And you do have a valid point. I love driving my old stuff more than when gas was $5.00 a gallon here a few years ago.
  4. Are my eyes fooling me? Did you just swap out the center shaft to make this work? If so, then how cool is that! I have a few slant six distributors here to convert over with.
  5. Hello, I was wondering if this project got completed?
  6. I picked up a 410 transmission that was in a 1951 Dodge. It's 3rd & 4th gears are synchronized. I am not sure if there is a later transmission out their that will fit and had the parking brake on the rear. I am putting this transmission in my 1937 Dodge ME 32. My PT57 will start out with the fully synchronized 3 speed. I know where to pick up a three speed out of a 1940 Dodge Truck. You will need to use the bell housing out of the 1940 to make it work. The Three Speeds and 4 speeds use different bell housings.
  7. Hi Classic Moose, I am restoring a 1938 Plymouth Truck also!  If you would like to swap photos and discuss projects, please keep me in mind.  Thank you for getting one more rare PT57 back on the road.

  8. Hi Probey53, If you are near California, I have a 1992 Dakota that may have the perfect wheelbase for you. I thought about putting it under my 1936 Dodge, then I decided to leave it stock. I used the engine and trans in my 1976 D200. Before that, I put all new brakes in the Dakota, a new steering rack, and replaced all the bushings, ball joints, and tie rods with either Raybestos or Moog parts. After I bought my Cummins, I lost interest in the truck and decided to part it out for my own projects.
  9. Thank you guys, I am using my phone and sent the last reply prematurely. And I will do my best to keep up here. Thanks again, I feel that I should have come here sooner.
  10. My 1939 was just delivered to the bottom of my hill. I started it up and drive it to my slab with the lift on it. I will try to get photos of it tomorrow. It has a 228 in it with a 4 speed. It is unique with knee action shocks on it. A real treat to know that it runs and drives... It was a challenge because the brakes do not work. To my surprise, it compression brakes very well. When I bought it, the guy said he can turn it over, but it doesn't run. Then he decided to get it running, so he could drive it onto his truck hauler. I am so surprised... And amazed... This really makes up for some of my previous disappointed purchases from my past. He is such a great guy, he didn't ask for a penny more than our original agreed price. Sorry for ranting here guys... I am just estatic!
  11. The seats look fantastic! Great work! The Blazer seat looks like it was meant to be there.. I hope my kids get the bug.... My oldest is slowing showing some interest in this hobby.

  13. Hello everyone, I just bought over the course of this year, a 1937 Dodge 1.5 Ton Flatbed, a 1938 Plymouth Commercial Car, and a 1939 1.5 Ton flatbed. I would like to say "hi" to everyone, and I will definitely need help with these 1930's truck interchange information. I am experienced in restoring trucks from the 1940's and up. I do see that these earlier trucks will be a bit more challenging to find parts for and such.
