  1. I'm here in Budapest and This is my sons driveway. It contains not one, but two Wartburg 353's. Indeed they are the bigger brother of the Trabant, they both are were made by IFA in the DDR. Wartburgs are a 3 cylinder, 2 cycle all steel car as opposed to the Trabbi which is a two cylinder, 2 cycle Duraplast bodied car. The red one posted before is quite an old one , mid 70's, probably. The white one posted here is a 76 and the green one is an 84. There are many subtle differences throughout their production. Don, I haven't been to the Lane museum in a couple of years, but I'll never forget it. That trip was my first encounter with a Sonic drive-in too.
  2. 51 International L110, $300 on craigslist. http://chicago.craigslist.org/nwi/pts/1183852080.html
  3. The Lane museum was heaven for me, full of odd-ball cars for for an odd-ball visitor.
  4. Chery? I hear its the pits.
  5. IMBd claims the movie was filmed in Detroit, and that it's Stewarts first lead role even though its a "B" movie. Gotta find it.
  6. Well, try this. Got a little excited there.
  7. Tail end shot for the curious. I doubt I'll ever see another. There is another rather nice looking new sedan running around here called "Star" that I'm told is Chinese. As you can guess, I'm fascinated by European traffic, (sort of a crazy high-speed ballet), and I find the cars and trucks are very interesting. Try to imagine the effect on a flat-lander from Indiana. I used to think Chicago traffic was busy. LOL
  8. Bingo, Cap'n Fred. I wager no one in North America has ever seen one of these. Did the Citroen equivalent get to Canada maybe? This one was seen in Budapest this morning.
  9. It's not French.
  10. Tim, you may have been kidding, but I actually tried that with a 65 bonneville convertible. It was way more work than it was worth, and it is almost impossible to roll one of those big flat boats by pulling it with another car. I wound up dragging it sideways several yards at a yank and literally pulled the tires sideways off the wheels. Stupid? Yes. It was about ten years old with 49k on the odometer. Someday I will learn. Not much chance tho.
  11. Free advice is worth what you pay for it.
  12. I find it hard to believe that its still 6 volts! They spent their budget or paint cans, I guess.
  13. Cap't Fred, as far as advice goes, read my signature.
  14. I disagree, respectfully. I like the wide whites better.
  15. What happened to the half dollar coin? Do they still make them? If so, where do they go?
  16. Y'all need to try scootin thru traffic in a Wartburg 353. Much more fun if your'e not the passenger.
  17. Another case of more money than brains.
  18. LOL ,, Tim, if that were mounted on a van roof, you wouldnt have to worry about it tipping over, it would be flat. Thats bronze. Lots of it.
  19. Might have to beef up the front springs, but maybe not.
  20. I have been using unleaded since 1994. I have never had a fuel related problem that I didn't cause myself. We have had 10% ethanol in our gas for many years now also. I carry an extra fuel pump expecting to change it by the side of the road some day, but so far, so good. All of the fuel line has been replaced just because it was so rotten when I got it. The carb needle is metal, and still, that old fuel pump keeps pumping. I have no idea how old it is or what its got for a diaphagm. All I know for sure is that its been pumping since August of 1994. Drive it and quit worrying.
  21. The only thing he didn't say was, "Have I got a deal for you"! Just trying to help out the widow. A nice car, but not the best guy to sell it. Run away fast.
  22. I just did all 4 on a Jimmy. It sounds like you have the same job. I used an angle grinder and cut off the heads on the control arm end. I f you cant get at them, do the other end and the joint will fall off the rivets anyway. The studs usually don't turn because once you pull the cotter pin out and break the nut loose, it unthreads pretty easily. It's more common to have the studs stick in the knuckle hole. Just put as much prying pressure on the arm, and hit the SIDE of the knuckle where the pin is. It's one filthy job if you've been greasing them like you were supposed to.
  23. At first glance, its a 55 or 56 Packard.
  24. There was a Shakey's in Boise a few years ago, Maybe five? A kind of dirty place but the food was not too bad. I don't think its open anymore.
  25. I think its a condenser, not a capacitor. Yes, I'm a nit-picker.
