The Venerable Slant 6 vs Our Beloved Flathead 6s
Xlarashun replied to 55 Fargo's topic in P15-D24 Forum
Back in the late '60s?early '70s, a trick with Slants was to put in a Truck cam, degree it 4 or 6deg up, get a Marine head, thin copper head gasket and the usual Clifford intake and Header. Super simple and Worked! A couple of friends back then had what were named 'Deputies' ! 225, 3 spd Challengers, both of them Red. I wish I had them both now! They hopped up one of them and lined up against the untouched one, which for some reason had been faster out the back door. Beat him by nearly two and a half cars! Needless to say, as soon as he saved up for the parts, they did his too! Memories from the Dusty corners of my mind!- 104 replies

Keith, the first crank that you got was for a '66 and earlier 225. I ran into that back in the early '80's.- 104 replies

Back in the 50's, Dad would shorten and connect the draft tubes into the air cleaner on all of our vehicles and most of the customers trucks to help with emissions and mileage. Plus, when they could get an extra 1/2-1 MPG more on their Gas trucks, Basically for Free, they ended up doing a Lot of them. Just My 2cents.

Same Here! I would drive it most every Day. My wife says I am 'Sorta Warped' that way!

Looks like a Really Great show, guys! Thanks for the Pics! Hopefully, IF things work out, the Wife and I are trying for Tenn next year with the '57! The N.E. stuff is a bit far us at this point.

They are building the Countach again, in Texas! I make the sway bars for them at work.

Seat puller/installer?

And, as I am in the process of building 'T' bucket # 21, Engine swaps/trans setups and clearance issues are not a big thing. My "23 Three door Touring car has a Twin sidedraft Solex Volvo 4cyl w auto/OD in it for now and have been thinking about changing it out for a 2.8 V6/auto that I have. Just so the wife could drive it, should something happen to me when we go on a Long cruise. (Different states, etc)

Not my first Rodeo with these. The Poly/5spd is probably where I am heading with this, just did not really feel like raising the tunnel for clearance, or reworking front seat to clear shifter. If I keep the Pushbutton, they are easily hid under dash, and leave shifter and third pedal in to fool the "All-Knowing" car show critics! I have access to 5-6 B body 8-3/4's and will go that route, due to Not being enthused about shearing rear hubs, etc. Definetly going with the disc conversion before I get to drive it. The slant is a 225, I have cam/intake/headers etc for it. Last one pulled 2900# '64 Dart 11:40's all day long. I will be rebuilding the Flat 6 and Driving it stock for a while, then, it will probably end up in the Tall T pickup.

Dad told me that they were at one of the dealerships picking up two new shop pickups, and a salesman managed to toss the drive shaft out of a brand new '57 Imperial with a prospective customer in it! Dad told them that they could fix the problem! They went to the shop on Monday, and built ten replacement shafts for them by wednesday!
