  1. Coils will usually have the letter "R" included in their part number to indicate that they require a resistor............not using a resistor when required is a complete waste of a new coil............andyd
  2. Chris, what was that building in the 4th pic in the last lot of pics, an ornate church? in front of a huge monolith?........andyd in Oz
  3. How about a piece of steel, about 1-2" thick, machined to sit flush against the diff flange, with drilled holes and use allen headed cap screws countersunk into the steel piec thru the diff flange or bolted from the diff side into threaded holes in the adaptor, then mount the driveshaft flange onto the steel adaptor the same way........I wouldn't use a piece of tube tho' unless the centres of the bolts on both the flanges intersect.........andyd
  4. Just been following your exploits in my Rand McNally Travel Atlas.......lol........thats a neat trip, looks like a great way to see your country.........this is the sort of thing that makes this forum such a pleasure.......anyway best wishes for a continued safe trip and I'll keep checking your progress, regards, Andy Douglas in Oz
  5. Brett, if its just the flywheel/pressure plate you're replacing then balancing just those two again by themselves is not worth the effort, they should have had a cursory "balance" job by the manufacturers, ie Mopar & the Clutch maker..........however if you are in the process of rebuilding the engine, ie, new pistons etc then getting the engine balance by the machine shop is a worthwhile thing, even if its only a bog stock rebuild.............balancing would include the pistons, rods, crank, front pulley/damper & flywheel........anyway thats my 3cents worth..........andyd
  6. Bob, you post as many pics of you & Cooper as you like..........I enjoy every one and that pic of Cooper that Neil posted brought a laugh & smile to my face........Cooper sure does have a handsome disposition..............lol........regards, andyd
  7. Justin, yep, they are 15x6 and 15x7 Wheel Vintique Chrome Smoothies with 195/75x15 and 235/75x15 Coker Whitewall Radials, the tyres have quite a difference in height which gives the rake........and are a 10000% improvemment over the crossplies that it had when purchased........andyd
  8. Pekka, Justin suggestion is by far the best way to lower a semi eliptic sprung car but is much more expensive and if you only wanted a 2" lowering then the blocks are fine, but as Justin mentioned 3' or more can make blocks unsafe, heres a pic of my 41 with the 2" blocks on the rear & 1 coil cut from the front.........andyd
  9. Thanks Don C.....................lol...........just wet meself again...........lol...........would like to meet you sometime, I appreciate your sense of humor........andyd
  10. Pekka, yep 50x50mm is fine, tho' as I have 2 feet at the end of my legs I try not to think in metrics.........lol.........andyd
  11. Uncle, my 1941 Pymouth has blocks made from 2" square tube, from memory they are about 6" long, with the ends welded up with a piece of 2" square plate..............even tho the original Plymouth springs are only 1.5" wide, the 2" square was ok it is only 1/4" either side, what you could do is to undo only ONE original U bolt and take it to a car parts place and find some that are 2.5" longer or have some made by an engineering shop.......taking one off should NOT affect anything so long as you left the others alone.....this way you can get what you need with minimal downtime........andyd
  12. LBC.........lol.......would never have guessed it...........lol.......the wipers & Smiths instruments are about the only usable Pommy cars parts.........lol............andyd
  13. Had a new Hyundai SUV parked outside my shop yesterday, and the weird thing was it had a chromed block letter "Highlander" badge on the rear......checked it out for a Scottish plaid upholstery but no go...just grey, but if any Chrysler owners need a upholstery badge then the latest Hyundai might be the go..........sorry no pic.........andyd
  14. Tim.whats a LBC?.........I used a pair of BMC/English wiper heads but mounted one upside down to reverse the cable drive so I could have "clap your hands" wipers rather than "wave your hands" wipers..........make sense?.......lol.......see attached pic..........andyd
  15. I have a 12volt cable operated english style wiper setup on my 1940 Dodge, which is similar to the aftermarket hotrod style units I've seen in US hotrod magazines.........this is not what you are referring to tho'...........andyd
  16. Ryan, I checked my pile of bits and I don't have a complete hub/pulley for the 230........buggar, thought it was o/k........lol.........Tony's selection looks like the way to go.........lol...............andyd
  17. KJ..........o/k you win the prize..........lol.........btw love the exhaust straight out thru the hood...........not playing games there!!.........lol....................andyd
  18. Don & Ed, I agree, the whole dissy will swap, but trying to swap internals may not.............Jon, are you trying to swap internals or whole dissy?............I have a Langdon HEI on my 1941 Plymouth 201 six, it fits straight in & runs well .......andyd
  19. Heres a pic of the new centre bracket a mate & me made from stainless steel, its in 2 halves, each side is held together with allthread that has chromed button head nuts, on the side there are 4 screws on each side that screw into the inside of the door jam.............the pic showing the inside of the car shows the edge of the door, this is a Fulton visor on my 41 Coupe.......andyd
  20. Looks like its o/k........btw what year is the car?......the front engine mount is not one I've seen b4.......andyd
  21. In theory the plugs should seal without using a sealer like permatex however I'd make sure the ledge on the block is clean with no crap, then wipe a thin smear of permatex around the ledge and use a brass plug, the plug should just sit on the ledge, then use a drift/bolt of approx 3/8-1/2" diameter and centre punch the plug............this will flatten the plug and in turn wedge the plug edges hard into the ledge around the hole sealing the plug into the permatex and the hole.......the hardest part is getting access to the plug and being able to swing the hammer in a confined space......andyd
  22. In his best hi pitched squeal.......the right one?.....its already spoken for as a deposit on an Ardun, Ford SOHC, 392 Hemi, etc, etc ,etc..........lol...........I'm not particular..........lol.........andyd
  23. If I ever win Lotto thats one setup I want...........wonder if I can use my left gonad as a deposit?..........lol.......Andy(with a high sqeaky voice)D
  24. Yep, it is confusing.........lol.........I really didn't take much notice of the differences between the 23 & 25 inch engines until I got my 41 Plymouth as I have had a 318 poly in the Dodge since 73.......I was restoring the Dodge but got shafted by the moron that rebuilt the original engine so V8 here I went........anyway my comments about the "kew" name & dealing with the Yanks is relevant as they only know what was US based........lol.....the Canucks are Nth of the border and we are way south of Mexico.........lol...........andyd
  25. I have a 230 Industrial engine that I was told came from an airport tug at Australia's Sydney airport......it has the tube and I am of the opinion that the engine is from the 1960's.....andyd
