  1. Well, I have an Edgy head, ordered in Oct last yr, finished and shipped 31/1/08, rec'd here in Oz 5/2/08, packed well, Earl was a pleasure to deal with, he probably thought I was a pain in the arse, however I would recommend him 100%......the edgy head came to just under $1000.00 Aust by the time it arrived here, but its new, its finned, and it should go vvvvvrrrrrrrooooooommmmmm......so I'm a happy camper...........oh....and the Edmunds head at the present is $1402 Aust.....plus shipping, nah I'll pass, andyd
  2. Don........actually don't mind the jnr tag.....lol...........my Mrs thinks I'm in my 2nd childhood anyway.....lol......andyd
  3. Btw when do I grow outa this "juniormember"tag?........I've only had my 1940 Dodge since 1970...........andyd
  4. My understanding is that the Holden grey 6 intake fits the 23" engine, the Holden Red intake fits the 25" engine.......now what I mean by fits is that the intake ports line up....BUT as the Holden intake is on the US drivers side the carby flange when the intake is mounted on the US passenger side ends up pointing the carbs at a severe angle, what people have done is either use angled spacers or have the carby mounting flanges machined then redrilled..........trust this helps, andyd
  5. Just thought I'd let the group know that good service still exists, I purchased a set of 230 pistons and rings from Andy Berbaun over the phone on the 20th Feb, and received the parcel yesterday, 3rd March.......which is pretty good especially considering I'm in Australia, 12,000 miles away......they are exactly as ordered, well packed, Thanks, andyd
  6. Yep, all Ford wagons have leaf springs, the rear axle width disc face to disc face is 61/62", I was using 1" steel spacers each side on the Royal diff to get the 10x15 mags/295 x 15 tyres away from the inner wheel arches, the falcon diff is wider so no spacers tho' the tyres rub on corners but as the white lettering is inside it saves me having to shave the lettering off myself.....lol.....also the rear fenders are 2" wider as I welded 2" inthe whole way around back in the 70's.......andyd
  7. From what I've found out the small engine, whatever the size, was not as common in Oz, but the 41 coupe definately has the 23", assuming its 201 as the car is stock(pic on the website), and I have a 230 to replace it, tho' I originally was gunna put a 250 Kew in the 41 but the RHD steering box is in the way, it sits between the oil pump and fuel pump and with the 250 etc cube engine having the oil pump 1" forward would mean either the steering box or oil pump would have to go and as the 40 Dodge i have is more rodded I decided to wack a small engine back in, albeit a whopping 29 cubes bigger, but it'll have the Edgy head, HEI dissy, twin carbs etc with a T5 gearbox, EA/EB Falcon wagon disc brake rear end(this will bolt up to the stock springs), P76 Discs & calipers on the stock front end..the front disc conversion is the same setup that the 40 Dodge has had since 1976, the EA/EB Falcon diff replaced the 1962 Chrysler Royal diff that had 1971 VG Valiant front rotors on the Royal hubs with XC Falcon rear disc calipers, this was used from 1976 till 2006.......I rave on a bit don't I?........lol.........andyd
  8. Nah, I always go on the length of the head now.....23" is 201/217/230.....25" is 218/228/250.......at least this is here in Oz......the bore is 3.250, so she's a 230......andyd
  9. Thanks, will see if I can get the rotor type, it seems to be the "latest" design........andyd
  10. The pest from Oz again..........the 230 industrial engine I have has a twin gear oil pump yet I've noticed that there was/is a gear/rotor oil pump used(Workshop manuals I have covering the Oz 46-53 Cars and a US factory 57 manual both show the gear/rotor pump).....is there any better one than the other?.........do they interchange?.......thanks, andyd
  11. Thanks for all the replies, I have a few more questions but i'll post them separately.........regards, andyd
  12. Gidday from Australia, I have a 1940 Dodge Sedan & a 1941 Plymouth Coupe, the Dodge an Oz built D15 model since 1971, the Plymouth since Feb 2007, its a Sth African factory RHD built ASC, both are drivers, the Coupe is getting a 230, I have an Edgy head, Offy twin carb intake,HEI dissy from Tom Langdon, Beehive filter and custom made headers........have a few questions about rebuilding 230's....... 1. Are any pistons other than stock pistons available, if so who from? 2. Are there any benefits from relieving the block around the valves as is done on Ford Flatheads? 3. I want to run an Alternator, but am having trouble trying to work out what yr crank and water pump pully/s are compatable with the thin pullys used on alternators. 4. Any info, tips, etc available on building a decent 230? 5. I am using an Industrial 230, does anyone know where specs for this engine might be found? .......if anyones interested in seeing both cars theres pics on the About Us page on my shop website....... www.scaleautomobilia.com.au thanks.Andy Douglas
