It's kinda hacked together from a few older pieces, put on by the last owner. Supports are not OEM, but it works for now. I am looking for a Fulton to replace it.

Moose is a member here. I'm sure he'd like to see that thread.

Green bomb... Find a new cardiologist. I found out the hard way that statins can be near deadly if your allergic to them. As you stated, lipitor kicked the tar out of me at 38 years old, felt like I was 90! Doc changed me over to zocor, and I was hospitalized one week later with a pancreas twice normal size. I now take a generic form of niaspan, a natural artery dialator which helps flush cholesterol. Diet and exercise are my only alternative at this point in life seven years later. There are other alternatives for sure, but you have to start by complaining to your doc and changing if you don't get the right advice. Life is to short to have to suffer like that and the first step starts with you. I know too well the pain your going through, pick up the phone on Monday and make a call that will change your life.

1902 to be exact. My grandfather took my grandmother for dates there. I grew up about a mile away from the place, but I think I've been there more since I moved 10 miles west.

The day ended with a nice visit to the local ice cream joint. It was opening day, so it was extra tasty!

Mid-day finally got around to tackling my first oil change on Ruby. Brought her down to a friends garage who let me use the lift to raise her up and have a good look on her underside. Oil change went pretty well, took exactly 4.5 qts in the crank case, and 0.5 qts in the filter. Pics attached show what I found on the underside. First picture shows that she has not had a proper oil change in a LONG time. Second show rubber deterioration at the tie rod covers. Putting this on the must do list for next replacements. Third picture shows the e-brake band, its a terrible shot, but if you where able to see the top, you'd see that theres nothing left of the shoe. Another must do on the list. Fourth picture shows that the master cylinder is fairly recent as well as the rest of the brake lines. Last seller didnt lie to me about that. Fifth shot shows the back of the transmission linkage covered in oil. Haven't done much debugging there, but thinking there's a gasket replacement in my future. But seeing as I'm gonna replace the clutch, it will have to wait for that.

Any chance of seeing a picture? I've got a thread going right now requesting info on how these mount at the lower edges. Love to see what you've done. Cheers

Now those edge clips make sense to me. I'm pretty sure I could mod the skirts with an edge clip similar to that. I worked for Bose for 17 years and they had a device that was used in the manufacturing lines to hold down product while it went down the line. Basically what I'd call a small cam-lock clamp, it would work perfectly in this application to grab the back side of the fender at the bottom edges. Woodworkers also use these types of clamps as well. Off to the hardware store and then to woodworkers warehouse to cruise the shelves and see what I can find... Thanks for the photo.

Drilling the fender worries me gents, Up here in new England raw steel invites rust, ay yup. The car I have is so original Im still afraid to make any mods. I'm going to do a quick free patent search tonight since I'm stuck in NYC for the evening without a plan. If I find anything, I'll post. Thanks gents!

Excellent advice about the hose Bill. I will do that.

Unto each ending comes a new beginning! Best of luck to both of you.

Thanks for the help Tim, Yes they are overlay skirts. There is continuous rubber strip that is applied to the outer edge of the skirt itself. If I were to make a selection myself I'd probably buy the inserts as I like the look better than the overlays. (Vendor suggestions for those always welcome...) Can do, but it may not be until Saturday. Had one of them on the car but it was only held by the center spring. The edge clips didn't seem to want to dovetail with anything. If I were to guess about the spring loaded device I would have to say that I agree something missing on the fender side as you suggest. The point on that pin wants to make me beleive that its purpose was to self center into a bracket hole of some sort. But then there are these other angle clips and thumb nuts on the other corner that just dont seem to want to grab onto the fender. From an industrial design point, I want to think that the designer would have put the spring loaded device at both corners to make it convenient (tools not required) if a skirt had to be removed to facilitate roadside tire replacement.Hoping someone out there may have the same skirts and can take a quick snap shot or at least verify that I have all of the harware required to keep these on the car. Once again thanks for the help.

:oI know most of you long term members have discussed this ad infinitum, but I just need some help understanding attachement methods for the skirts that came with my car. Below are four pictures of the same skirt with details for the rear clip at front and back of the skirt. (by the way I drive a '48 S/D) I tried putting these things on the car (previous owner claims they where on the car, but claims he can't recall) I just can't undertand the clips and spring loaded gizmos? I haven't a clue who made these, or if they are period or later made. Any advice is appreciated. Weather forecast for Central Massachusetts says rain on Saturday but sun on Sunday, so Saturday will be a good day to change the oil, filters and tackle these skirts so I can be on the road again for Sunday. Apologies in advance for the dirty skirts... just dug them out of the trunk where they've been since '94.

Excellent pictures. Love the 40's iron.

Thanks Ed! Very nice of you to offer. Let me know, I would definitely be interested. - Mark

Hah! That made me chuckle... As a matter of fact it is, and unfortunately it was delivered that way to me. I also noticed that the center spoke has a crack as well. Looked at eBay this am, and found an NOS replacement for $175. think I'll try a few swap meets this summer before I lay out that cash.

Eighty mile round trip in Ruby today! Drove from Lancaster MA to Uxbridge MA all back roads. Temps here are in the 40's as well. Hoping for warmer weather soon!

Still no snow here yet. We're about 200 miles away from you. But they say its on its way... Thankfully the snow melts quickly at this time of year. Just hoping for some dry roads by Saturday.

Greg, The gents over at Roberts warned me about that. Actually gave me a call to chat before the sent the parts. Really nice of them to take the time. I took a gamble as I wasnt near the car when I ordered the parts or when they called to check. Roberts isn't too far from my home (+/- under an hour away) so I guess worst case is I end up making a personal visit to make an exchange and grab some more loot!

Excellent truck there mate! Definitely not going to be 88f around here anytime soon, but spring is in the air! We're due for a few flakes tonight, I hear 1-3", but that's what we call mother natures fertilizer round these parts. Cheers!

It's Wednesday night and I've been thinking about the weekend since Monday. Last weekend was practically all honey-do list, so this weekend I'm headed to the man cave for some serious me time! Placed a serious $217- order with Gary Roberts at Roberts Motors and the package arrived today. (He was awesome to deal with by the way.) Looking forward to getting some grease on me on Saturday and potentially a test-drive on Sunday if the weather cooperates.

Randy, the snow left about a week ago. We've had more rain than sunshine for the past 12 days. But the warm overnight temps have really made a difference. Sorry for the poor quality pics of the back of the dash, I was in a rush. Everything there is original to the car. In the shot of the wiper motor you can see the "L" leg from the knob disconnected from the motor. Ten seconds of fiddling and that was marked off my fix list. Dash lights where another issue... Seems I have a fuse holder that needs replacing as well as a few bulbs. Drove her at night last night and didnt get any rotating colors, so looks like I may be pulling the speedo to get a better look. Left side of the dash was also dark.

What a great weekend! Started it out on Saturday afternoon by having a long phone call with Nick Essinger of Ohio. He's got a cool p15c that's a twin to my car. Nick's recent claim to fame is an article that he wrote for the Nov/Dec 2010 WPC journal. An easy read and good information in general. Got up Sunday morning and took the wife for a nice breakfast and then a little local touring around home. First ride for the two of us alone, and Ruby's bench seat made it all that much better. Also took some time later in the day to do some familiarizing under the dash board. Fixed the problem with the wipers and found out that I need some new bulbs for my dash lights as well as a new flasher unit for my turn signals. All in all a pretty good weekend. (by the way even managed to get a significant honey-do list completed as well)
