  1. Happened to me this past Saturday. Embarrassing for sure, but the good part of the story was that I got a helping hand from a local motorcycle enthusiast. He fetched me a gallon of gas while the local cop pushed me off the side of the road! Like you, it took quite a bit of pumping with the starter before she brought gas to the carb. So much so, that I had to use my portable jump starter to bring her to life once the carb fuel bowl was filled. Lesson learned: 1/4 on the gauge= empty in reality, and another thing to add to the "to-do" list.
  2. Nice tk hear the cars running mike!
  3. Still on the edge... Work travel has me all over the place these days. Hope to be able to commit soon.
  4. Very cool! Thanks for letting us know!
  5. One mile from my house exists the home base for the Collings Foundation. Very neat organization dedicated to the preservation of warbirds. More info here ->http://www.collingsfoundation.org/menu.htm Amyway, I went over to their open house this weekend (driving Ruby of course) and found Al Capones Caddy in this guys basement! Interestingly enough, this car is not armoured at all. The other shots show a nice Rolls Royce Springfield which was made in Massachusetts, as well as a nice Duesy parked next to a few more Chryslers. If your ever in the area, go see the place. - amazing stash for sure.
  6. Even with the sun streaks, it's a great looking car!
  7. envious for the shift control and even more so for the OD!
  8. Thanks for the reccomendation Shelbizzy. That'll narrow it down a bit.
  9. Yesterday I bought a Borg clock off ebay for 45$, a heck of a lot cheaper than the 675$ plymouth version currently on ebay. It came out of a 1948 Desoto, so I figured the clock can't be too different from the one that broken in my car. Photos attached show the clocks side by side. After some work I've stripped them both down and found my plymouth clock was a mess, all stuck up with some green goo that was most likely a past effort to lubricate. The Desoto version was clean, but there was one spring balance that was loose which i tightened. I tried the clock with some battery power and the solenoid wound once, however it would not remain ticking. Im unsure how these are supposed to work, Im thinking that they may need constant power to run? Can anyone confirm that? So my plan going into this is to replace the dead plymouth clock guts with the good Desoto clock guts. What I've found is that the time set rod is the only difference in the two works. When I get more time I will swap the rear frames from both works and that should do the trick as it will position the rod closer to the center of the clock. Stay tuned for more in this adventure... First image shows the Plymough clock on top of the Desoto clock. Second image shows the Plymouth clock on the left. Third image shows the nice clean Desoto clock works on the right. By the way it appears that this clock has never been taken apart.
  10. Got home early from a business trip today and decided it was time to grab a brew and some tin snips and tackle my air filter conversion. As mentioned prior I bought a second filter on ebay for $20- so I can maintain the original in stock condition. Photos of the operation attached. Tomorrow I'll run out at lunch with my measurements and size up a paper fiter. By the way for anyone that was following my issue about a month ago about the missing oil in my oil bath sump, I finally found out where it was all going... I took the bottom (sunp) off the carb today and it was HEAVY with oil. Turns out the bottom of the sump was filled with small pin holes. The oil leaked into the outer contain. So here's the results of my beer induced tin snipping. The first photo shows my original filter with the other taken apart. The other photos have a ruler in the shot so I know what my limits are when I go shopping. .
  11. John - -have not had the pleasure yet. Will add it to my calendar and drop you a note if I head in that direction for sure. - Mark
  12. Thanks for the advice Desotodav. I'll give it a go this weekend if time permits. Will post results with pictures. - Mark
  13. Nice work. I just picked up a spare oil-bath filter off of ebay for $20. I intend to do the same thing with it. Now I just need to find the guts to make the first cut and a dremmel tool...

  15. Google has a great translator. Translate.google.com
  16. Found this mfr on eBay... http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=160586891710&viewitem= "napped" cotton seems to be closest to the oem installed in my car. When I do mine, I may try one of these.
  17. Hey Mike - All it took was a prior registration for the Mass DMV to issue a title for my car. That was just this past January.
  18. Gonna have to come visit you guys on the "irish riviera" this summer!
  19. Passing this one on for the adventerous... Looks like a pretty good deal. http://boston.craigslist.org/gbs/cto/2403131729.html
  20. Doesn't a day go by since the destruction in Joplin that I haven't given those folks a thought or two. By the way, thanks all for thinking of us.
  21. Stinkish, I'd give that Nash a home anyday! I'm actually a fan of dead brands such as that. Hooray for the small company that tries to do it differently. In any case, I will agree its a great picture.
  22. Storms where very bad around 5pm tonight. I work in Framingham Mass along the 90 east /west corridor. Local news was telling everyone to find immediate cover as two tornados had touched down in Springfield and Ware Mass. Was already committed to the highway so I stuck it out and got home in time to see some wicked videos on our local news station. Luckily I live north of the office and not west. Got a call from friends in Uxbridge Mass... they where telling me that mail from Springfield was raining down on their house and was all over town... Take a look at this video of a tornado touching forming in the connecticut river in Springfield this afternoon, truly the hand of god... http://youtu.be/W5plBdPBNj8
  23. Hey folks - short drive from my house there's a D24 that I am pretty sure is up for sale. Wife was riding in Ruby with me when we stopped to see it. It's parked with a bunch of other antique cars at the Lancaster, MA flea market. (http://www.thelancastermarketplace.com/index.html) The car looks to be in pretty good shape. Original brown interior was a little ratty, (ive seen worse), but it was all there. Not sure about the engine or anything else related to it for that matter. Suggest if you're interested you call the flea market and get details through them. Tracey gave me the hairy eye / be happy with what you have look, when I asked her if I could have a matched set... That truly would be a P15-D24 expirience.
  24. Except for the fake white walls John...
  25. I'm liking that maroon sedan...!
