  1. Did the Nova ever have torsion bars? I am wondering if maybe it was a Volare' etc. front clip.
  2. Not mine. Just saw it for sale. http://classifieds.pennswoods.net/classifieds/viewad.cgi?adindex=2092140
  3. I started out working for the school district summers when I was 14 and then as a grocery store stock boy when I was in high school. Left there to run heavy equipment and be a dragline-oiler in open pit coal mines after graduation. That was dying in the late seventies around here so I went to work in a glass factory making picture tubes for televisions, and radar screens for the military. Went through a maintenance electrician apprenticeship in the glass works and worked as an electrician there. Took a position as a controls/instrumentation technician within the plant. After 24 years with the glass works the plant was closed and moved to China. I went to work as a construction electrician for about three years before being hired by Penn State University as a instrument/meter technician at their coal fired power plant. I am now the maintenance supervisor for PSU at two power plants. We have everything from 1930's vintage coal handling equipment to a modern combustion turbine with heat recovery boiler. We are currently transitioning away from coal towards natural gas . I have moonlighted as a truck driver in 18 wheelers pulling coal dump trailers too. Always been a shadetree mechanic. I get that from my Dad. Retirement is still about 9 years away.
  4. I like it!
  5. Sweet!
  6. I searched "Gangster Squad" and received 3 results. I then searched "Search Function" and received 126 results. Obvious to me which is overdone.:D:D
  7. I searched "nevermind" with the search function and it returned 26 results. This has obviously been covered before.:D:D
  8. Not my thing but I can appreciate the vision and creativity. Could be a cool cruiser. I think it is growing on me.
  9. I have heard of Shanafelt but never seen one. That appears to be a 2x2 intake. Two carbs x 2 venturi (barrels) each. Very cool in my opinion, but I would never have an engine that could use that much fuel flow. Price? J have no clue, sorry.
  10. Please consider this as thoughtful concern and in no way criticism. Maybe this is old info too, but I need to pass this info along. We have redone several old Mustangs which use the top of the gas tank for a trunk floor. No issue unless it is in an accident and the tank is ruptured into the trunk. At that point on a Mustang there is only a seat back to keep potential fire out of the passenger compartment. What we did was to place a metal fire wall between the trunk and the rear seat to help alleviate a possible issue. I am not sure how your car is designed for separation of trunk and passenger compartment but if there is nothing but the seat back I would consider some type of firewall. On my old Dodge without a rear seat the separation is not steel but easily could have a piece put in if it were needed. Glad to see you making progress.
  11. Still five operating within an hour radius of home, hard to believe when most are closed in other areas it seems. I can think of four in that one hour radius that are long gone too. Usually make a couple trips each summer. Some good times there when I was younger.........
  12. Same to you Mick!
  13. Take care of yourself Lee.
  14. I have always preferred Chesterton Spraysolvo but will give the acetone/ATF a try. The local junk yard guy carries a spray bottle of regular old water and uses it as a lube on rusted bolts. He swears by it as he claims water makes rust so it will dissolve it as well. I have used it in a pinch as a lube but I don't think it penetrates.
  15. I made my own for my '41. Not period correct. All black THHN wrapped with friction tape. A couple pics of the harness and a couple of the type drawings I created to use for future troubleshooting along with a wire schedule. 41 Dodge New Wire Schedule.pdf
  16. Very nice!
  17. I have had good luck with plastic repairs with this Permatex product. YMMV http://www.permatex.com/products/product-categories/adhesives-sealants/epoxies/permatex--permapoxy--5-minute-plastic-weld-detail
  18. That rite thar's funny, i don't care who ya'r!!!
  19. Nice pics as always. Of all the old Mopars we have had, Dad's '48 New Yorker coupe was probably the smoothest ride. it had the straight eight and was black in color. I like the white.
  20. Great idea Bob! here are my wheels this year. #1. 41 at Bellefonte, PA #2. 41 at Black Moshannon State Park #3. 69 at Clearfield, PA #4. 41 at Inlaws house #5. My bike at Gettysburg, PA (the silver one) Nice pictures everyone. Keep it going...........
  21. Funny how we all read different things into a post. "If you keep the 318 stock, it will start every time and be boringly reliable." I took that as a compliment to the reliability of the 318 and the lack of required fiddling and maintenance to keep it that way. I am a huge fan of the small block Mopar but that 429 would have been cool too. I have a 360 on the stand I bought 10 years ago to rebuild for my Dart or the '41 but the slant six and flat head have really grown on me. I guess I have become a "six in a row" guy. My muscle car and street rod friends think I am nuts. I kinda like it that way. :p
  22. I like the idea of use what ya got for hotrods. Make it unique. The 429 would be a lot of work but so would any swap. Don't compromise. Do it your way.
  23. She is a beauty. I would use a light oil as well.
  24. Peaked out about 72 here. I hope it stays like this until about March and then gets nice.:D:D
