  1. Me enigine is running and I'm now attaching wires, connectors, etc.. question: The intake manifold has the two mount bolts for the automatic choke, and i have one? Is it a beneficial item.
  2. I could not get my Suburban engine to start. I had a new coil in it. Suddenly my mechanic asked if I had another coil. I handed him four old ones. My mechanic chose one, problem solved. Other things were amiss also.
  3. Last spring I drove my B3B on a 320+\_ drive. It has the 218 and 3:73 . I cruise at 65 on the interstate, could easily go 70 but I like to loiter among the trucks, but not in them. That eliminates a lot of passing. I usually take a brief break about every 60 minutes to relax my right leg. Do the drive, you will enjoy it. After about 300 miles, do a flashlight safety, performance check. Keep a close eye on the carburetor top four screws, keep them tight.
  4. DJ, should make that. I restarted the engine today. It is so quiet at idle. I'll post a video later. So tomorrow I will back it into the alley, maybe drive it around the block. I could not start it, so called my mechanic, one man shop in the country. Never advertises, always busy. Cost ne $50. As noted in another post, New is not always good. New coil was bad!!! Those things kill so much time. It tested out with the olm meter, yet go figure. Ss shown, it runs, now a lot of connecting to do. All front wires have been tested with appropriate lights, back to the dash controls. I'm getting too old for this!
  5. I never imagined the work involved in repairing this car. I do not consider it a restoration, per se, just a very thorough repair. Been a great experience. I am getting very close to a completed, though not finished., product.
  6. Just read where a thief, in Venezuela, tried to steal a young lady's purse. unfortunately for him, she was a professional kick/ boxer. Boy did she do a number on his face without even smearing her lipstick! Good for her!

  9. Final shot: WD 40 softens Plasti Dip. If the PD was thickly applied, then it has to have time to penetrate the layers. I applied with a sponge brush. Removal best with a sharp plastic edge. Brillo pad will cut through the surface then the plastic edge will scrape it off.
  10. I solved my problem by cleaning the colar where the R 1st yoke connects, tightened the two screws at the top by the shifter, and put a new grommet on the rod that is pressed over the cone attachment. Good luck.
  11. A friend has a cabin in a remote area. Was there late one evening enjoying the camp fire when a car drove up. With gun in hand the driver was asked, so???? Discovered this young family discovered the cabin and this was their fifth year to vacation there. The man said, "we made certain, we always left it exactly as we found it each year". Interesting.
  12. I fully agree with the above posts. What I like to see is a vehicle and lots of drawing pens and pencils and permission to use the vehicle to write on, draw on,etc. fun to see the creativity of children.
  13. I used the Plasti Dip as a visual test of a black widow wrap such as is currently popular on modern SUV's, no other reason. Paint I guess is much thinner, so defects are visible. This product seems to cover up better. I'm not going to remove the glass and restore those inner frames. Leave that for the next guy. Will be in MA in April, maybe we can hook up. paul
  14. Dave, no problem. No on the glass, yes on the body area. I found that WD 40 softens Plasti Dip, but only so deep. I applied that with a sponge brush, good control, then could remove good amounts with a good plastic, straight edge or putty knife, or. . . Then I applied the WD 40 to some course Brillo pad material to clean further. Worked very nicely. I'm not sure I would use the Brillo pad on good paint, but just fine on aged 60 year old paint. I like those widow frames black, a bit modern, but I'm debating whether to do it. A nice clean vintage look has its own appeal. So much detail as I close in on even basic driver stage.
  15. Please note above, "window island" no plasti Dip on the glass. Was an experiment with plasti Dip shared so others know, this product is removable, bit it does not peal off. I once could ask questions and get answers not editorials.
  16. HUGE mistake. I sprayed Plasti Dip one side window island of ny Suburban. Removal is a very difficult task .WD 40 softens it but it takes a sharp plastic scraper to peal it off.
  17. I routinely surf from San Diago to Bay Area for mid '50's cars in the range from $5,000 to $19000. Mid '50's Plymouths are rare but pricy when posted. Mopar Suburbans very seldom.
  18. Incredible. I am studying your new floor panels. My Suburban needs a new floor. I'm very thankful for my new shop, but sure do like the space you have and the lift. I'm too old to do another vehicle, but if I did, I would have a lift, then remove it if in the way for future use of the shop. TKS for all the incredible pictures. PS I want to know when you and 48 Dodger line up! The road in the front of Tims property would do fine. Great BBQ event!

  24. Our family is in Maine so we are alone. So today I will put '54 tail lights in. It's tricky getting the old '53 lens' bolts off. There was lots of dirt back in those corners, not any more. Merry Christmas.
  25. It's called "plagiarism". It cost two of my high school studenrs their Valadictorian accomplishment back in the mid sixties. One was the school superintendents son.
