  1. Welcome to the forum ! Congrats on selecting an old Mopar for your first car. My first car way back when in 1966 was a 1933 Plymouth. Go to the top of the page and click on resources and select Links.
  2. If you don't repair the temp gauge yourself you could do what I did. I sent mine to B1BKeven,a member here, for repair. Send him a personal message for a quote. In just a little over a week I had it back in my hands with a new tube and sending unit for less than $100. Highly recommended !!!
  3. Over yonder is down under from here.
  4. Possibly a 2 bbl carb and for sure a milled head.
  5. YES ! I have a set on it's way to me for my '39 Royal.
  6. I bought some 50 Chrysler wheel covers from a member here a few months ago who was parting out a '50. Give him a try. His id here is......animal18324
  7. Jeff, Maybe the only modification your truck really needs is it's address. Move on up to Nor Cal ! Reg
  8. Oh !!!!!..... I only worked on them in the back seat.
  9. No garage then Don. I had that setup you showed under a shade tree where I did hair and automobile wrenching.
  10. I use to drive a 47 Dodge 1/2 ton in the 90's daily. it had a transplanted 236 25" truck engine. Sometimes during the rainy season and no garage I would have to bring out the hair dryer to dry the inside of the distributor cap before it would start. Never had that problem in the mid 60's with my '33 Plymouth.
  11. That's a 48-50 grill shell.
  12. You'll notice I said MAYBE ;-)
  13. Maybe this will help.
  14. I have taken 2 of mine into the local Napa store and they made up new ones in the back room on the spot.
  15. The rounded side goes down inside the rounded channel.
  16. Have you tried eBay ?
  17. What are the many variables with these trucks that you mention ?
  18. Not a problem for the truck to get rolling from a dead start. My driveway for the first 700' is a bit more than a 16% uphill grade. Piece of cake ! My rear end came from a 66 T-bird and was stamped 3.0 however I've never opened it up to see if it truly is. The 50 Chrysler 251 transplant was rebuilt probably 20 years ago and at the most has 30,000 miles on it. Last time I checked the compression it was around 110 psi on all cylinders. Back then I dropped the engine off at our local Kragen Auto and in a few weeks they returned it to me rebuilt for $1000. They told me they sent it off to some place in Arizona. Still running strong......knock on wood.
  19. Hank, I've R n R'd many heads and have always used the old bolts.
  20. Ah...it's nice when something works out !
  21. Where's the coolant ?
  22. When operating properly will it kick down at any speed ?
  23. is an R7 suppose to downshift while in OD ? I think I have an R7 in my 39 Chrysler and it's doesn't. Mine will up shift from 2nd to 3rd if I let up on the gas pedal for a second in OD mode. Then I can manually shift into 3rd OD.....it's like having a 4 speed trans. Just thinking out loud.
