  1. I have one of those too and used it on the Dodge pistons when I rebuilt the Hemi
  2. This just appeared in my neighborhood last week. Don't know the owner,....yet
  3. Diamondback or Lucas are good choices. Cokers not good!
  4. Driver side, subtle convex - expensive
  5. I have convex mirrors on both sides and it's perfect for me. On the driver side is a convex piece (purchased just the glass) from Hagan. A bit pricey. It's has a subtle crown that gets just a modest expansion of the view to the rear. On the passenger side I "stuck on" a rather inexpensive generic unit which has a much broader field of vision. Between those two and the stock rear view mirror I have very good rear vision. And a little tip,.....when looking at the view behind in a convex mirror, focus on the lanes not the car behind to judge the situation. Passenger side, big convex - cheap
  6. You got your priorities right! Workin on old cars is a "perk" after you get everything else in order. The 49 served it's purpose and it's nice to hear you have another old car project to enjoy after taking care of important family business. My thing with wood and drywall is it makes you sneeze. Not fatal but a real pain. Not a problem with steel, eh!
  7. Here are a few more from our escorting of PNW friends, via Prescott AZ and Zion, on their way home. Warning!!!!! I'm the only Mopar. However, the visuals may entertain a few. ......more...... http://smg.photobucket.com/user/wstory/slideshow/Prescott-Zion?sort=2
  8. Before the 9/11 Memorial visit, several of us from SoCal connected with our buds from the PNW to attend the Reno Air Races and have a few days of fun with cars and beer. ......more..... http://smg.photobucket.com/user/wstory/slideshow/Reno 2016?sort=2
  9. Here are a few from the 9/11 Memorial. Near 3000 flags installed every year at Pepperdine University, overlooking the Pacific, in memory of those lost in the World Trade Center Attack. Avery sobering sight.......more http://smg.photobucket.com/user/wstory/slideshow/9-11 Memoriall?sort=2
  10. The idea of the Poly Project is/was that it be a long term deal. Got to a point where I'm comfortable that the concept will work and that I have spend no money,or very little so far. This Winter I'll get to it if not distracted by ideas that are festering for the Plymouth and the Roadster. In the meantime I have enjoyed three road trips and a local jaunt to a 9/11 Memorial. The Memorial was about the best thing to experience. Pepperdine University, overlooking the Pacific, displays a flag for every soul who was lost at The World Trade Center in 2011. Note a few from other countries. It was a very sobering site. More pics in a few days.
  11. Old thread but a lot should apply. And since the Chrysler is larger,.....some latitude. Pics have been rearranged so ask if you have questions.
  12. The bolt pattern on your Plymouth is the same as Ford, 5 on 4 1/2" 15" ford wheels should be easy to find at the wrecking yard. Be sure to get wheels from a "rear wheel drive" car as the off-set will be about right. Wheels from a later "front wheel drive" car will put the tire in the wrong place. Google "tire size conversion" and you'll get all kinds of info including recommended wheel widths for a given tire size. If you're wanting a stock looking tire, I'd suggest something like 205 or 215 width and 70 or 75 profile. If you are not familiar with those numbers, the Google results will help you understand. Good luck!
  13. My 2 cents and I'll try to make it a "Short Story" I bought a Volare with the intent of using the front clip under my P15. Turned out to be a pretty nice car so I drove it thinking I'd get another for the clip. After driving for awhile I became aware of uncomfortable idiosyncrasies common to the basic design. Heard unverified gossip that some Chrysler engineers quit because of their concerns about it's validity and the safety of the design. I also realized that the Volare clip places the wheels slightly outboard of the fender line and even with custom off-set wheels could not get the look I was after. My alternative solution was Fatman dropped spindles and cut coils to get the appearance I was after (I can just hear the howls of anguish from the traditionalists) I also installed a beefy sway bar. Mostly a bolt on and it worked pretty well even with the stock steering. Still with the Flat 6. However,.....couldn't leave well enough alone and after a few years decided to up grade to a V8 and modern steering. By now I had the confidence to tackle a serious IFS install. Did that along with a Mopar 360 drive train. I have no regrets,.....fact is, I'm damn proud of it. This link is to my build thread. It's pretty thread-bare for pics now as it's several years old. However, if you have question, please gimme a shout. I'd be happy to share what I can. http://p15-d24.com/t.../22985-im-back/
  14. For those who may wish to witness the broader picture, the following link gets a documentary of the cars and characters that participated in the Victoria Caper. In short, a bunch of Yanks from Calif., Ariz., Tex., Ore., and Wash., converged on Victoria, BC, to meet-up with more of the afflicted from BC and Alberta, Canada. This trip included a good portion of wives, girl friends, kids and grandkids. We were about a week on the road together before separating for our various homesteads. WE JUST HAD THE BEST TIME! There is a "button" for a slide show at the upper right of the opening page that will step through the images if you wish. http://smg.photobucket.com/user/wstory/library/Victoria?sort=9&page=1 I see that many of the pics are out of sequence but I'm tired of fighting PhotoBucket!
  15. I did the 360 in a P-15. I'm thinking not too diff. from your car. I agree with the 904 recommendation per Grumpy unless,.....you got the 727 already. Check my build thread http://p15-d24.com/topic/22985-im-back/ It's been awhile so there are many voids in the pictures. Feel free to send me a PM with questions. Following pic is from a recent Victoria, BC event which I attended. It has a 360/904 power train.
  16. We continued on after the big show on Sunday in Victoria for several more days of comradeship and good fun. [/url] - - - -
  17. A little side issue that my friend (another Mike) arrived at the BBQ "on the hook". Seems his store bought suspension was not up to the task. What could have been a major inconvenience, broken suspension out in the country, was expediently addressed by Ed and his good friend Dale Windsor visiting from Alberta. While many of us watched and enjoyed the BBQ (and offered advice) Ed, Dale and the two Mikes diagnosed the problem and fabricated and installed new A-arm brackets for both sides,.... just to be sure. We even celebrated a birthday for Ed's oldest, Sienna. - - - - - - It was just the most awesome experience of people coming together.
  18. Destination Victoria, BC achieved where we connected with more of our Canadian friends. The day after arrival, we motored "Up Island" to Ed Compton's (40plyrod) place for a BBQ. It was a spectacular back roads cruise where we met another Forum member, Dave Pollack (dpollo) and his super nice convertible. We also got to see first hand, Dairy Farmer Ed's handy work on the '40 Plymouth 2 door that he has shared on this site for the last several years. Damned impressive! - - -
  19. Josh, Jess and Mike hit the road July 18, with barely 300 miles on the clock. First overnight in NoCal yielded a tire issue that was quickly resolved. For the most part the maiden voyage included a lot of listening, feeling and sniffing for possible problems. - - - You see here that we had a really diverse group of friends. Folks and cars from Calif, Texas and Ariz.
  20. Yes,....it will have glass, hubcaps and a balance tube And A/C
  21. ]I missed the first drive around the block yesterday. That done, young Josh focused on getting the stereo speakers installed.
