  1. I've used Dot 5 before with no problems, but a clean, new system is best if converting to it. I just never liked the added cost over the Dot3/4. I use Dot 3/4 in all my stuff, and just flush the system every year, two at the most. It only takes me 30 minutes to flush the system by myself, and then you get rid of any fluid that might have absorbed moisture. Part of my regular maintenance.
  2. I was researching this one night a while back, and came across a thread, and post, where someone used a long filler tube from a 90's Magnum V6/V8. It then had the twist on cap for an relatively air tight seal. Here's the thread...I had it saved in my subscriptions.... http://www430.pair.com/p15d24/mopar_forum/showthread.php?t=21120 Post #48...and others...show what was done.
  3. Guess it's gone...link no worky, and can't find through the search function either.
  4. Got it to work with IE...That was a good watch. Sure gives you an appreciation for what we have available to us here in North America.
  5. I wanted to watch this but it obviously does not like my computer and firefox....
  6. I thought the same thing, BUT at least there will be something lit up for the unobservant masses to hopefully see.
  7. I think if you turn them the up/down they would look fine on the back of your Chrysler. I got to see these in person before I ordered them since a friend of mine has a bug, and he just so happened to have a set of these mounted to his back bumper.
  8. Well I plan on converting to 12V, so my options for bright lights increases a bit. And I'm not using the housings that came with them...maybe. I might put some super bright LED's behind the lenses and then only drill a small hole for the wiring to run through the body.
  9. So here are a couple pics. Mine are from a VW bus, but are still Hella glass lenses, which I like since all other lenses are glass, and the trim is stainless. And mocked up on the car. Used a couple magnets to hold it in place. I think they will work, and look great.
  10. For the last couple months I've been searching for the "right" back up light for ol' Fernando. I've scoured E-bay looking at different lights from all mopar cars and trucks. But nothing seemed "Right" to me. Most were round and with the square, boxy tail lights and brake light, they just didn't seem to work for me. Well one night a couple weeks ago I was rummaging through the archives here and came across a "Back up lights" thread from 2007. And Mr Tim Adams had posted a pic of his car with these rectangular back up lights. As soon as I saw those I knew those were the ones for my car. A couple posts down he then said where he got them from....
  11. Ahh that sucks....But I've been there before too. I once had to pull the oil pan off my 340, in car, 3 times before I remembered to re-install everything to do with the oil pump re/re.... Like you said, better safe then sorry. And at least it's not "in car" and you have to hang over the front end to do all this.
  12. Neat...I have a couple "OK Paint" and "OK" ink stamps under the hood of ol' Fernando. I like to see stuff like this, makes me wonder too.
  13. Nice looking motor. What is it in? Early 20/30's mopar?
  14. Use the tepid water to free up one of the doors. Then if you don't have a small electric fan fan I would put a hair dryer on High/hot, then put it on a small piece of plywood and put it on the drivers floor pointing towards the pedals. Then wait.....
  15. What can you say but...WOW!!! Absolutely a beauty!!!
  16. Chrysler 300 front end on your old D-24...not a match made in heaven...or anywhere if it were up to me. Sorry don't think it works even a little bit.
  17. I was wondering when it was....Dagnamit I have to work this weekend.... Do you know when the Monroe swap meet is?
  18. Are those 49 Desoto woodie wagons in front?
  19. Thank you for those numbers and info Bill. So about 4K a year built. I had forgotten about the 2dr sedan with the rear vent windows as well....now that's a rare bird!!
  20. No where in BC is it mandatory to have chains on your personal vehicle while crossing the mountains. Although there are very big signs that tell you "Severe winter conditions, winter tires and chains required" but you can still go, no one there to say otherwise. Now commercial vehicles..which I drive...If the chain up light is on, you chain up!! If you don't and spin out on the hill you can be fined several thousand dollars, plus a $400-800 tow bill etc. I know in Sweden you have to have properly rated winter tires. If you try and cross into Sweden from Denmark, or Norway, they will deny you entry and turn you around if your tires are not up to spec.
  21. Just woke up here on the left coast....and it's a around freezing, but clear and sunny...Beautiful day!! Wish I had the Desoto running, nice day for a drive.
  22. Looks like the horse is a bit taken back by your old car....
  23. Earlier this week I was replacing the e-brake cables on my 84 Dodge crewcab. I had bought the Raybestos cables through JC Whitney on-line. The first side went well, then I pull the cable out of the box for the other....it was manufactured backwards!! So I call up JCW and tell them my problem...instant refund, including shipping. I then had to get the cable from a local parts house at double the price, but truck was all apart and I had to get it going. But this was not even their fault and they still warrantied the item 100%!! Not the first time I've had a problem with JCW, but they have always made it right.
  24. Well for me $30 vs $185...I'd go $30 every time. But depends on how handy you are. I always figure how hard can it be. What I did was pull everything apart, then clean everything really well. then you will need a small cylinder honer, I got mine for under $15. Then run out the cylinder for about 10 minutes, I do it in 1 minute intervals, then clean and re-lube and go again. Do a search on you tube for technique. Once that's done then clean everything again, really well in the bore...you want it spotless. The start your re-assembly. Not that hard at all....if you do it right the first time....
  25. Well I've had a very frustrating evening. I decided after installing my nice new, rebuilt MC and pedal assemblies I would try and bleed the lines running out front. Well after much pumping I was not getting any pedal pressure and no fluid out of the MC to the lines. So reluctantly I pulled everything out again. I drained the fluid...there goes my nice paint job... And disassembled everything looking for something obvious. Thought I might have installed one of the cups backwards....nope everything looked good. So re-assembled and tried bleeding it on the bench....still no fluid coming out. So by now I'm very angry/frustrated/depressed...so decide to come to the board and search through the archives for an answer to my problem. After some time I finally came across this thread.... http://www430.pair.com/p15d24/mopar_forum/showthread.php?t=20526 This picture posted by LuckyDevil is what helped me out.... Turns out I neglected to install item "G". After I did this everything started working properly!! I only have one thing to add about that picture. Everything is correct except for cup "C"...it actually goes between "D" and "E"....other then that the picture was a life saver. So now I have to strip and repaint all my parts I just finished repainting...since the brake fluid sure made a mess of things.
