  1. Just wanted to thank LuckyDevil for posting up this pic.... Turns out I neglected to install item "G". After I did this everything started working properly!! But I only have one thing to add about that picture. Everything is correct except for cup "C"...it actually goes between "D" and "E"....other then that the picture was a life saver....Thanks again!!
  2. Good lord!! I thought you just had a few big cracks....you had half your wheel missing!! You have done an amazing job so far...big pat on the back and an "Atta Boy!!":D
  3. Great info guys. My interior in the Desoto is 100% toast. So will be needing everything. I have subscribed to this thread to later access the info, and watch the progress of others.
  4. For purchases on-line I go to this site first..... http://www.retailmenot.com/ They have coupon codes for over 65,000 on-line stores. There is always codes for JC Whitney, and RockAuto. Heck sometimes I try codes that say they have expired, and they still work!!
  5. That was a fun watch...thanks for posting it up. As for the carbs...very interesting.
  6. Here's the only pic I have on the computer with the column in it. If you need another pic I can shoot one tomorrow.
  7. I priced out a local shop to cut the glass...it was going to over $600!! I can get a complete kit form one of the companies that specializes in the vintage flat glass for under $400. Thank you for the kind words on the body style. Yes they do seem to be rare, the 2dr sedans in a Desoto that is. That was what drew me to it. I knew I wanted a 46-48 Desoto, but was torn between the 2dr coupe and a 4dr sedan. When I saw a pic of a 2dr sedan one night while pic searching I instantly fell in love and knew that was the car I had to have.
  8. Well here's the linkage on my 48 fluid drive...but other then the length of the rods everything else should be the same.
  9. Can you post a pic? Helps to see it so we know what we are looking for when rummaging through our box's of misc parts....
  10. That is why I abandoned my 331 Hemi plans for the Desoto....vintage Hemi's are cool...but when was the last time you were at a show and saw a hopped up flat head six?
  11. Well that sucks! Is a plymouth narrower by 10 inches? And is that heal pad correct? Looks like a heal pad from a 60's car.
  12. Guess it's a S-11S since I'm 61956XX.
  13. As you can see in the pic I have BIG rear quarter glass. So I have the 2 piece windshield, 2 vents, 2 doors and 2 big quarter glass. Considering the 2dr sedan in the Desoto was a small number in overall production....some numbers I've seen say 3000+ total production for the combined years 46/47/48? Not a common body style.
  14. I'm looking to buy new glass for my 48 Desoto 2dr sedan, but one of the glass companies asked me if my car was a S-11S or S-11C. They sent me an initial quote with only rear vent glass. I responded, with pics, showing my big rear quarter windows. So I am assuming that the S and C stand for Sedan and Coupe?
  15. Hey Fred, No I didn't bother with the bench bleed. I still have to flush all the lines, rebuild the brake cylinders etc. So this is the only "New" part on the whole system. I'm using good ol' Dot 3/4.
  16. And the MC and pedal assemblies reassembled... And re-installed in ol' Fernando....nicest part on the whole car right now....
  17. But got everything painted and reassembled over the weekend. And I used a couple 5/8 snap rings instead of the old pinch washer. I used two per side since they grove was quite thick. Not bad, but wish they had been a bit bigger in out side diameter, but they should still work fine.
  18. Sorry I didn't get back to this thread PawPaw...You should have 2 holes, one big and one very tiny. I had to use a small pin to punch through the crud in the small hole.
  19. Welcome to the board...and what a beauty you got there!! Keep looking on E-bay for the headlight ring. I, and probably most here, scour the listings looking for those pieces we need, or just want for spares.
  20. I've been using the parenthesis for searches for years...but never knew about the asterisk...now that IS handy.
  21. I usually don't bother with the sub sections. I just run my searches through the main E-bay motors and then cruise through the results. Sometimes little gems pop up that are miss listed.
  22. Looks very nice. That is some great info on the installation...I appreciate it. Never thought to attach little tabs so you could adjust and manipulate the welting....very slick!
  23. Looks like a repair on the top of the rear case section?
  24. Never thought of that...darn good idea!!
  25. Thanks for the pics Fred....I think I can see where the cut was made to shorten the mount. I assume the bolts are just threaded into the frame? Great that you got the car from your uncle, and that it's been in the family for such a long time. Love it when there are family ties to the cars.
