  1. Yeah, the pics are a bit tricky. I generally just use photobucket and link it, much easier and better quality!
  2. This is the kind of crap that caused my brother to leave new york. He got arrested for supposedly "stealing" his wifes car once. He spent the day putting a fuel pump in and took it for a test drive around the block. The cops picked him up just down the street, even though they had the same last name. she had to come straighten out and it's on his record anyways. Gotta love the rotten apple! No offence to anybody that likes it though!
  3. That thing is clean, Lucky you got all the nice parts! Looks like a great start, whats that chassis?
  4. I almost ought to go into business building em!
  5. Actually its all a semi-sealed system, none of the joints are sealed up but the burner actually draws it's air from down below, and there is a tube coming through the floor and coming up to the bottom of the stove to supply cold air from outside. A carbon sensor wouldnt be a bad plan, really any enclosed space for occupation should have them. Since it will usually have electrical hookup, it will really be easiest and cheapest to run an electric heater when its convenient. I will say the LP stove isn't overly efficient, but it is leaps and bounds better than the old broken kerosene thing. Really it's about the same as a gas furnace once I figure some things out to make it more efficient. We use a wood stove to heat the house, when done right its darn efficient!
  6. Sad to hear about your loss, 91 years is a good life though. I remember losing my adoptive grandmother to cancer, she is missed but in a better place. Heck, wonder if they will run into each other in the big city in the skies! if she liked slot machines, theyd meet for sure! Anyways, once again, my condolences.
  7. ain't it so romantic to watch an infrared furnace sit there? Really I built this thing to both look and act really nice, figure the flames will make it nice. with the stack on it, I can actually leave the door open while it runs.
  8. oooh, that looks like a cool project!
  9. Oh I know man. I ran that little turd on charcoal on charcoal once. woked really well, but took down a 40lb bag in 2 hours! Hate to see what it would have done if I opened up the air intakes! at least the valve I used has an adjustable flame setting, it ought to heat that trailer nicely even in the dead of winter!
  10. Haven't really gotten it completely up to temperature, but it seems to get pretty warm. this thing is only about 2' 6" tall! so it hopefully won't be too scary
  11. Not sure which i feel more sorry for, the car or the driver!
  12. Well, today the new furnace was put together for it's test run, now it just needs paint and bolts! so yes Tim, I do get projects done, just takes awhile to get at em! Even for people that have no interest in campers, this was a pretty cool project. It's an old potbelly gone LP http://s1113.photobucket.com/user/4153dodges/library/Camper%20until%20i%20know%20what%20it%20is/A%20project%20within%20a%20project?sort=3&page=1
  13. Update: This last week went much better than expected, The original deal fell through due to the seller's family stuff about a month ago, but as of Wednesday we finally got together and finished it off! Had to drag it down 30 miles of country gravel road, but for not moving since the 80's it towed darn good! It now keeps the 41' company back at the cabin and awaits some new doors and windows. And here is about 3 dozen more pictures! http://s1113.photobucket.com/user/4153dodges/library/Camper%20until%20i%20know%20what%20it%20is?sort=3&page=1
  14. There shouldn't be any differences, so long as you dont mix up the rods and such. maybe a cam, but the jury is out there
  15. I'd keep it, do you realize I have never seen a mopar with its original flathead? They are always replacements
  16. This is true. I higher rear end is in order either way, 45mph isnt flying for a road truck! Thats what im contemplating building anyhow
  17. So time for somewhat of a refresher, the 41' could still use a better driveline. For sake of fuel consumption I'm still thinking diesel, anybody have any other ideas for motors? no chevy 350's though, as good as they are theyre way too common
  18. hmmm... Thats rather odd, I could swear that truck had 16" rims so how would 16" brakes even work?
  19. This guy seems to have a pump like that, appears to be an external pressure bypass? not sure the point of that, but seems like its a perfect candidate for a full flow oil filter! http://www.m37rebuild.com/Engine%20Rebuild/Forms/AllItems.aspx
  20. true... Have to see if I even get the thing for one! then if the rear end is salvagable
  21. In my case, the officer simply signed off on a sheet of paper stating the VIN from the truck, basically saying that this title really goes to this number instead of an engine number. Then the DMV basically makes a whole new title that matches the number on your VIN tag, thus making it the same as registering any other vehicle from then on
  22. hmmm... how about pads and cylinders?
  23. what did you have to do/pay?
  24. So my big thing with this project, how available are the brake parts for one of these trucks? or would it just be better off with another axle swap? never really dealt with a 1 ton before...
