  1. I think the owner may have traded/sold it to a friend who has the capability to get it up and running. Many HAMBers agreed it was either ugly.....or neat.....depending upon their tastes. But it is definitely different. No one has been able to find any real history on the vehicle as to who did the work. Another automotive mystery of life. As I said earlier.....I like to post cars like this I think are interesting because someone went to the trouble to modify them. Whether they prove to be likeable will be up to the viewers. At least it's an old Mopar within our field of interest.
  2. Yeah.......I'd say customized Wayfarer convert. I kinda like it. 49 Plymouth bumpers......50 Pontiac style tail lights....taller than usual skirts. Wouldn't mind to see more of it.
  3. krusn64 on ebay makes two different styles of the gas tank fender grommets.......one of which is right for a P15, and another for the little newer models. You should be able to contact him to ask at krusn64@aol.com A good guy.
  4. ......plus a bunch of other nice old cars taken in the 80s and 90s by some fellows in their travels. Link to the thread....for anyone who cares to look.......http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=766676
  5. Yeah, Ed......that's probably better than using your iPhone...... Since I got one for Christmas, I've read the forum a few times on it and even sent in posts.......but it's kind of a nuisance. The print is pretty small, and if you enlarge it much, then you have to scroll side to side a lot. I can't recall......can you cut and paste info from the forum? Just answered my own question.........went and highlighted an item and clicked "copy".
  6. Niiice! Always good to have a work space.....it'll fill up soon enough.
  7. ????? No comprendo the question.
  8. Hi LP. You might consider putting your location.....specific or general.....in the upper right corner of your screen information. You were commenting on the weather.....but I could not tell where you are. Here in good ole southwest corner of MO.......had some light freezing rain and sleet last nite. When I awoke this morning, it seems we had some snow type stuff as everything is white, but is not deep. Temp is 20 with winds of 8 to 10 mph.
  9. I just post things like that because I think it's interesting to see what someone has done to an old car -- even if not to your personal taste. Who knows if it will ever get finished. Owner says he hasn't been able to determine who built it. He lives in Nova Scotia
  10. In Burlington, KS......includes radiator and other parts http://kansascity.craigslist.org/pts/3529667362.html 53 or 54 Plymouth dash........St Joseph, MO....... http://kansascity.craigslist.org/pts/3470075406.html
  11. Saw these on Craigslist...........http://kansascity.craigslist.org/pts/3538754141.html 1947 DeSoto engine.....http://kansascity.craigslist.org/pts/3539114411.html And....four P15 wheels with h-cap clips for $100.........http://kansascity.craigslist.org/pts/3538751443.html
  12. They must have had an Edsel sitting around..... (this car now belongs to a fellow on the HAMB.....borrowed the pics from there. I don't think he's sure what to do with it.)
  13. I had mine made by a local upholstry shop. I took him the tan Haartz canvas material, which matched the top. He did a good job with it. Since the original boot tucked down behind the seat and had no snaps there......he put Velcro on the back of the seat and front flap of the boot. Worked out fine. When the top was up, I just put the boot into the well...with front edge still attached.
  14. I owned this '50 model back in the 60s and early 70s. Bought it from a young fellow for $75 as it wasn't running. It was a dark green color and the interior had been re-done in red cheap vinyl. Finally sold it to a collector (Paul Stern) in Mannheim, PA. Towed it there with a tow bar. The sale price then was a whopping $400.
  15. I think I've finally arrived at that conclusion.
  16. You can actually "dress up" one of those ragtops and make it look right uptown, if desired. Saw this one on the net.
  17. Am thinking about buying one of those tanks. Have also considered a Ford tank from O'Reilly, but would have to relocate the filler neck. It holds the same number of gallons as the P15 tank and looks more like the original than the smooth and more square Tanks Inc item. Will be interested to see your installation.
  18. Is anyone using the Harbor Freight item.....the "oversized, low profile" creeper? Son in law gave me one a couple Christmases ago.....but I never really had occasion to use it. After the tornado, it ended up in the custody of someone living East of here I guess.
  19. That fuse on the headlight switch is the only one in the system of a 46-48 Plymouth. Some people have added more fuses while doing a re-wire. I think there's an inline fuse with the radio, if used.
  20. The car mentioned above.......
  21. There are a couple studs with nuts, plus bullet type connectors on a P15 headlight switch. Just pay real close attention to where you unhooked them from. I got a couple wires back in wrong once.....it caused the switch to overheat which kicked off the lights while driving down the street. Not fun.
  22. Sounds like a worn spot......or perhaps something loose or broken inside. If you really need lights for the trip.....you might consider buying a temporary replacement switch for the trip, and maybe just let it hang down below the dash on the wires if it doesn't fit the hole just right. .....Just a thought....
  23. The man with the probably most complete list of convertibles I know of is Jim Benjaminson. Don't know how many ragtops on his list, but maybe he might give us a clue. I'd be interested in knowing too. Link to his original post...........http://www430.pair.com/p15d24/mopar_forum/showthread.php?t=34533
  24. jmilgram asked the question on the cars for sale page and someone suggested he should post here. If he's already done it and I missed it, then ignore this post........ He said: Relatively new on the site; don't see the ability to view the membership listing by type of car owned which would go a long way to spark interest and discussions with members who own similar vehicles; To that end, I would like to compile a P15 convertible listing of owners which I will make available on request; so, if you want to throw your hat into the ring, send me an email with your Name/contact info/year/condition (parts/under restoration/ original/restored or rod; I know there were about 15,000 made between 1946 and early 1949 but no idea as to how many are left; if that info is out there already; a link would be appreciated.
  25. Thanks, Tim. I check that out for sure.
