  1. Here's a picture of one setup from my P15 parts manual. I think that's how my car is set up currently.
  2. Looks good. Did the fact it was grimy help lower the price??
  3. Yes......I agree.......if you can't find the exact original style, try some general purpose roll rubber matting. At least you will be in the neighborhood of what it was. I did not go for originality on my P15.....used maroon carpet in the trunk to match what I had on the floors. You might could use some black carpet on yours.
  4. Way to go Toby. Yes......it does look strangely like an old DeSoto. Go figure. lol
  5. Saw this 41 Plymouth coupe for sale today at the swap meet we attended. It has a couple unusual features that, in my opinion, won't help it sell for the $24,000 being asked. It does have a Mopar V8.....and other street rod features. Here are some pics.
  6. I'm currently planning on giving the convert to my son-in-law and daughter........since he is a car guy and also knows how to work on them. He did the body, paint and interior on it after the tornado. If for any reason, he can't work on it, or doesn't want it.... they can sell it if they wish.
  7. I think mine is acryllic enamel with hardener. Gets pretty shiny.....which I happen to like.
  8. They have gotten pretty ridiculous on lots of prices for old Plym parts.
  9. Plymouth, being the cheapest model between Chrysler, DeSoto and Dodge.........only had a regular 3 speed manual with normal dry clutch. At least until the mid 1950s when some automatic and semi automatic trannys were added. All the other 3 had fluid drives in some form.
  10. On a previous thread on this topic, several people said they hit their head on the trunk lid and wished it went up higher. Others said you just gotta remember to duck. I don't think any real answers past those above were arrived at.
  11. The wood bodied cars ended up being top of the line, fancy models. The wagons were used by many upscale resorts and schools to transport customers. Just about every car brand had at least a woody wagon during the 40s.....not all had the convertibles like Chrysler T & C or Ford Sportsman.
  12. I never did own a Nehru jacket.........but did have a couple pairs of bell bottom pants. Back in my high school days of the 1950s, the guys would turn up their collars to imitate the style of Elvis. Very narrow belts of various colors including red were popular for a while. Some guys would cut the belt loops off their Levis. White buck shoes, wing tips, saddle oxfords and penny loafers (with a penny) were popular as well. Most everyone dressed up for church on Sunday. There were dress codes in high school. Most guys had their shirts tucked in and their shoes shined. Ball caps were worn at.........(wait for it)................ ball games......only the catcher wore his cap backwards.
  13. I'm not an expert............but I think ALL 46-48 Dodges had Fluid Drive.
  14. Also found these wiring diagrams using Google. Model D29............click on link.............http://www.fridrichdesign.com/dodge/images/d29wire.jpg Model D30..........................................http://www.fridrichdesign.com/dodge/images/d30wire.GIF
  15. The first pic is the 46-48 Plymouth Deluxe (without a horn ring).........possibly similar to the Wayfarer setup....... Second one is from the P 15 Special Deluxe with the chrome horn ring........
  16. Weil.........I guess I could say I know about riding in a new P15 also. My father bought the first 1946 Plymouth delivered to our town in Missouri following WW II. So I have been told. I would have been around 3 years of age then, being born in July of 1943. I do recall riding in the car, a light grey four door sedan. I also recall that as a safety device to make sure the rear suicide doors stayed closed .... (so me and my younger sister would not fall out)......Dad drilled a hole through the door post and inserted a long guttering nail. Maybe the memories of that car have influenced the fact that I like the P15 style, and have owned a couple coupes, a two door, and the convertible.
  17. Robin.........how many P15 convertibles are there in the U K currently..........yours and the yellow one? Is there a third one? Just curious. I know there are a couple more in different body styles. Always enjoy hearing the exploits of the old Plymouth owners there.
