  1. Here are a couple more chopped P15s seen around here........ Either Nash or Caddy grille on first one.
  2. Sounds like a person needed Pepto Bismol for the Motor. Don't recall seeing that ad before.
  3. Several nos Dodge fenders here in MA.....http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=633036&highlight=1946+plymouth A P15 drivers door (prob 4 dr) in KS, $50.......http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=636472&highlight=1946+plymouth Seller says 46 Plym PU project....prob a 41....in Nebr......http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=590316&highlight=1946+plymouth Don't know if anyone needs any of this stuff.....but shopping the HAMB classifieds from time to time offers an additional source of parts. Also, don't forget the classifieds on this forum.
  4. Not much really......made sure not greasy or oily......you can use a wire brush for scaley and flakey places. I applied mine with a 2 inch paint brush......that puts it on thicker than using a spray can. I had to tape a piece of lath to the brush handle to reach some places down low and at front of the motor. There are other good products out there.....but I feel like the POR has endured better than anything I previously used. It won't last forever and it does cost a bit.....but I'm satisfied with it.
  5. I don't think you could restore that for the asking price. If all is good with it, both mechanically and cosmetically, then it probably is a deal. Check the floors and the trunk floor. It's maybe on the high end of what these cars tend to bring....but if it's a driver and looker right off, and if it fits your budget -------
  6. Apparently they had a 5.6 earthquake about 45 miles E of Okla City just before 11 tonite (Sat). We even felt a little of it here in Anderson, MO....30 miles S of Joplin. Anybody else feel it.
  7. Well, Im in the dark I guess......what is that?
  8. That does not appear to be an original ignition.....does it have a screw on ring on the outside? The pic Ed sent is right. Those switches can be found from time to time on ebay....some with key and others without.
  9. If you zoom that picture down to about 50 percent, its a lot easier to see.
  10. Don......will that little spring clip move forward toward you, and perhaps just barely touch the door of the box? Maybe that's what makes it pop open. Just guessing.
  11. I do like the lighter looking 49 Plym bumper on the Caddy grille car. The first one is unique, and with some more work in various areas it could be more nifty. At least they aren't sitting in some junk yard somewhere.
  12. Yeah, the hamb guys often will recommend keeping a super nice original - original. Or they sometimes suggest the person sell the car to someone who likes originals, then buy something less nice to make a rod from.
  13. On the speed nuts, I think I used my small vice grips, grabbed the sides, and gently worked them.....turning and pulling up.
  14. Nice room Tim.
  15. Here's a pic of the one on the hamb. Another fellow on the hamb took a 51 Kaiser four door that was pretty run down, and turned it into a nice two door. Has been painted and looks good.....
  16. It would appear the ebay seller didn't know how to post his pitchers so they would be large enuff. The car looks kinda ruff.
  17. How is the John Deere stuff better than the type grease you use on the rest of the car? They say the regular grease ultimately gets worked over to the sides of the box, leaving the gear eventually mostly un-lubed.
  18. John, actually I was looking for both sides - as I had neither. Then a few months back I bought a pair from MrPlymouth48.....that were handmade from stainless by a fellow in Mass. They were sitting on a shelf in the garage when the tornado hit. A few days afterward I finally remembered them - began poking around in the rubble on the floor - and found both of them. So hopefully Dale can put them on when he re-does the car. Thanks for thinking of me.
  19. Richie - glad to hear you're back into a Plymouth again. If you ever drive it up here to MO give me a call. Bob
  20. They also make a rectangular clip-on-the-door mirror with set screws. They occasionally turn up on ebay. There's an even cooler than usual one on right now. http://www.ebay.com/itm/1940-s-Vintage-Accessory-Door-Mount-Rear-View-Mirror-/130589653083?pt=Vintage_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&vxp=mtr&hash=item1e67bff85b
  21. If you're not a real stickler for "originality" you can probably find a newer type mirror like this one. Screws onto the door. Mine is used, bought at a swap met The trick is to make sure the shaft part is long enough so you can see around the bulge in the side of the car towards the rear.
  22. Hi John. Sounds like you're making progress. You CAN use some other head of similar nature.....may or may not increase anything. I'm using a 50 Dodge head on a 57 Plymouth engine that was bored .030 over. I'll just say it works fine and has for several years. You might consider having the head you use shaved a bit.....should increase compression a tad. Others know more about that than I. Good luck.
  23. Definitely a distinctive paint job....... I would guess the perps would either hide the car or repaint it quick. Then the next qestion - are they gonna dismantle it for parts or try to ship it overseas to a buyer.
  24. This motel, on Historic Rt 66 is still in operation in Springfield, MO. Only the car in front now is a 55 or 56 Ford.
  25. This postcard shows Mickey Mantle, who had an interest in the first Holiday Inn built here in Joplin. They called the bar "The Dugout". That place has been gone for quite a few years now. Had a lot of good times in that lounge in the 70s and 80s.
