  1. I've noticed a lot of sellers are starting the prices on ebay for notably more than they used to. And, a lot of things appear to sell despite that fact. If I need something badly enough, I will pay some amount more than I like, but would not want to give $750 for a visor, either. Just keep watching and sometimes an item will come thru for cheaper. But it takes your time to mess with it. There is a feature whereby ebay will email notify you when an item you have indicated shows up. You just have to go thru and find that feature and set it up. I don't know if you can specify price, but if they tell you each time another Fulton visor comes along, you can check it out by just clicking on the link they send.
  2. Or.......you could create your own "fins" by using a couple spare hood ornaments, like this guy did.
  3. I would guess that the chrome "tail fins" were not offered until 1954, but I'm not an expert. My 54 Savoy had fins.
  4. Hi. Welcome. Good looking ole Dodge. I noticed those Stude wheel covers right off.........with spinners, even. I suspect there are some better condition caps out there somewhere. What part of the country do you live in?
  5. I would try painting over some of the current paint to see if anything happens, like bubbling or such. If all seems to hold, it will probably work OK.
  6. Not only is spelling and word useage going to h---, but paragraphs and capitalization seem to be disappearing too. It's rather difficult to read a whole page of stuff that is one big paragraph with few, if any, capitals (or is it capitols:D), periods, or other punctuation.
  7. It's a wonder he hasn't made it into a sawmill.
  8. This car is for sale on the bay............. Looks to have a normal interior....... Seller says: This is a 1948 Chrysler Windsor Traveler in amazingly good original condition. This car has little if any rusted through body metal. As far as we can tell the paint is original with the exception of the passenger rear fender, which has been replaced, and does not match the rest of the car. The interior appears to be all original other than the faces of the front seat back and bottom. We learned many things about this car by doing a google search. We found several articles written about a car that is very similar to ours, with a lot of information about the rarity and uniqueness of the 1947 and 1948 Travelers. More than one of the articles we found claims there are only 12 of these cars registered with 9 of them belonging to Chrysler. We can’t verify the accuracy of what we have read, but suggest you google 1948 Chrysler Traveler yourself and form your own opinion. From what we have read it sounds like the roof mounted luggage rack was available on these cars, but not necessarily installed on all of them. There is no sign of one ever being installed on this car. This is a great car needing very little to be a dependable driver. The flathead 6 cylinder starts easy and runs very smooth and quiet. The fluid drive transmission is smooth and operates like it should. The lights, heater, wipers are all in working condition. We do have the original hubcaps, but no beauty rings. The hubcaps pictured are not correct for the car. Please call or email with any questions. "]
  9. Also on the bay is a French postcard for this 46-48 Traveler.....with no roof rack but what appears to be a fabric or leather roof insert.........
  10. Currently for sale on ebay are a couple posters picturing a 1940 Chrysler Traveler Sedan..........per the seller.
  11. An item I found on the net showed the below pic of a 1950 model.....here is what the poster said........... Greetings, this chrysler is a 1950 4 door sedan, looks like a Windsor, however, the lettering on the trunk lid says "Traveler". Windsor is nowhere on the car. The rear seat folds completely forward, for luggage or sleeping?? Anybody have any info on this Traveler or know of a website that does? Thanks from L.A., George And another person replied........"70 Years of Chrysler" by Geo. Dammann describes for 1950, a "Windsor Traveler sedan, which was an attempt to combine station wagon utitity with sedan styling". Supposedly they all came with a roof-top luggage rack. 900 were A third said.........The car in the photo is not a '50 Chrysler. Looks like a '51, '52 or '53. The car is definitely a 1951 or 1952 Windsor (the taillamps are the only change from 51 to 52). A Traveler was a 1950 only model. I believe, however, that the trunk lids from 1949/50 bodies interchange with 1951/52 bodies. Rear styling was not substantially changed in the 1951 restyle. Your trunk lid was probably replaced with this (very rare) 1950 Traveler lid at some time. __________________
  12. Looks like a good Fulton visor there.

  14. Per an item on the HAMB, a group of people gathers on the morning of the Rose Parade, then takes a cruise down Colorado Blvd. They said the temp was 81 degrees. Thought I'd send a couple of pics of the only old Chrysler products they sent. The pics are fairly large. 16. Hi Darren. Welcome. Glad to hear you found a nice Plymouth your family can enjoy. These two books contain info about Plymouths as well as most other brands of cars from their era. Can usually be found for sale on ebay. I just watched along til I found one at a price I liked. I also have these 3 books. The orange one at top is the Parts Manual. I like the one on the right (maroon and red) and feel it is the most period correct one for the car. None is perfect with answers to all questions you'll have, but they sure help. I often find the exploded views in the Parts Manual helpful. Good luck and have fun with the car. Bob
  17. OOOps, Don......you were right. I somehow got the impression he was talking about a full wheel cover rather than the original Plymouth cap. Even those center clips can become a little weak and or bent slightly... as evidenced by how easily the cap goes on or comes off. Sometimes I'm amazed at how tough a rim is since they really take some punishment from things like potholes. Jon......your car looks great with those white trim rings on the wheels. Glad it's running good.
  18. Don, there are two kinds of full moon caps......one attaches with small screws, but the other type has clips just like any wheel cover (I have some of those). So, you Can throw a moon.
  19. Bingster, is yours a factory antenna, or an aftermarket one? Some are easy enough to find a replacement nos one.....others not so easy. Got a picture?
  20. To answer questions above........that is indeed a battery cutoff switch. I simply mounted it in a hole already in the firewall due to having dual heaters originally. I only use one heater now, on the passenger side. That POR is like a pint can, I think.....it's fairly small.....seems like it cost about $15 or maybe $20 - been a while since I bought it. That paint spreads pretty well and a can goes farther than you may think. I bought my last can or two from a place in Nashville, TN while I was visiting down there. Others sell it......just check the net. My take is that by brushing it on, it is thicker than what I could do with a spray can...therefore it holds up longer. Bell housings and (I think) trannys were also silver.
  21. In the past, I would take a screwdriver and go around the cap, prying gently out the entire big part of the clip. Then go around a second time and pry open more the small little clip part on the very end of the big clip. And after doing those things you need to try it on the wheel to check how it fits. May need more spreading (or possibly less if impossible to mount). Nothing is foolproof where a big jolt to the wheel is involved. Never tried the silicone thing, but it soulds pretty logical. What kind of caps are you running, and do they have pretty good clearance over the center portion of the wheel? Good to hear from you again.
  22. Happy New Year from us......................hope 2012 is a little less exciting weatherwise than 2011.
  23. Howard.......we all gotta do what we gotta do. Sorry the Plymouth didn't turn out quite as well as it should have for whatever the reason. You did go thru a lot with it. So, now, we'd be interested in knowing what your new ride is, even if not a Chrysler product.
  24. Congratulations Michael and Vicky. Great pictures. Nifty outfits. Wishing you many years of happiness together.
  25. Because ------- it looks, cool, man. There was a lot of that dual antenna stuff during the 50s. Lots of Mopar cars used duals from the factory.
