On a P15 = can you switch sides and use a right door hinge on the left side front door?

I know you can get a heater valve with shutoff feature at the regular auto supply. But can you find a piece that fits the water pump there?

Well......those chicks above make these two 50s attired ladies in Tulsa seem pretty staid. Guess I need to look around at the next show for someone with a little different garb.

The folks on ebay are starting at $39 for their glove boxes.

The ad shows a book, but what they're selling is a CD that is a PDF format. Price seems reasonable at $9.99 "buy it now". Just tossing this out since I don't know how many shop on ebay. They also tend to have both original and reprinted parts and repair manuals for our old cars. It seems someone is always asking about serial numbers and other things found in these books. Some of us ole Missouri boys get around......and manage to have a pretty good time. I'd love to go to that show also, the music is phonominal with acts appearing from several countries. They always try to get older American performers like Clarence "Frogman" Henry, Ray Sharpe, and others.

Yes......I believe the bows are numbered. I just don't know where the numbers are. Should be there someplace.

They used pretty plain brown leather or leatherette on the seats. I think the spare tire is mounted on the back side of the front seat behind the driver. Sometimes, if one happens to be for sale on ebay, they often include interior photos. Or, if some antique vehicle dealer has one up for sale also. Taken by HAMBer "Bad Bob", who usually takes some good pics at shows. The majority of pics taken by hot rodders are of Fords and Chevs, but they sometimes toss in Chrysler products. Always glad when they do. Anyone see a Chevy?? To be continued.........

Have ya ever noticed.....??? If there's something car related in the background, someone will usually spot and mention it. Guess it just shows who's paying close attention.

You mentioned that you would likely replace the brake hoses.....they are also a possible source of the failure to release. They can collapse on the inside, even though looking fine on the outside. The collapsed lining prevents the fluid from returning to the master quickly. That happened with my rear brakes......so you might replace that hose also.

Thanx Randy. I think the book was sitting somewhere near my garden cart-- that's it up in that tree next door. Actually, I still have my manuals - they just got a little wet. Evidently didn't look on the right page for that info.

I agree with that thought, Robert. However, I'm going to be limited on space to a degree and maybe on money. I'd love to build a big ol play place, but will just try to get all I can squeeze out.

....bumper to bumper? I know the wheelbase is 117", but I don't seem to have a car at the moment to measure. Also, how wide. Looked in the search section, but couldn't find a post addressing the exact question. Need to determine just how many feet of the proposed new detached garage the car will need. Going to try and arrive at a measurement for the building, so will be enough extra room to store "stuff" that was in my storage sheds as well as the car. Not sure just how soon the contractor will want to pour a slab for the building.....so would like to be prepared. House is progressing, slowly......today they had taped the joints in the sheetrock. Definitely be after the first of the year....maybe Feb or so before get to move in. Thanks in advance for any info.

Not much in dash knobs on the bay right now. But, yes, sometimes there are decent deals. Try looking in the parts for sale section of this forum too. Another thought......I think 46-48 Dodge knobs are similar, although a darker shade of brown. Should be a pretty close substitute.....but not much on the Dodge stuff for sale right now. The original shift knob is similar in size to dash knobs, just has the threaded hole to match size of threads on shift lever. A set of knobs put out by the factory, appear along on ebay....... Back side of some dash knobs.....screw on with set screw to hold. Cowl vent knob............

Looks like maybe 53 or 54 Olds.....my guess.

Some fellow I talked to not long ago, owner of a 47 DeSoto sedan, said he found his narrow stripe, whitewall radials at WalMart for (I think) maybe $65 or so apiece. But not sure about that cost. I don't know what size his tires were.

Are Panama hats actually made in Panama?? Is the place just brimming with them?

Generally speaking, I would not normally lock the doors......only maybe at a car show to keep any idiots out who might want to sit in the car in my absence. Guess that means I would have to put the top up:D. Otherwise, I agree that unlocked is the best way to prevent top cutting. Mainly, I want the locks for looks as they are supposed to be there. Not sure I would go off and leave the lighter there either......as those get stolen from time to time.

Good question, as both types will actually work on an original type wheel. I prefer a 6.70 x 15 tire on my 15 inch rims. I like a P 215 x 15 radial for size in relation to the fender wells. Not sure on the 16 rim.....anywhere from a 600 to a 700x16 bias ply I think. Some time during either 47 or 48 they switched from 16" to 15" rims on the P15....

Sometimes that old saying about "variety" being the "spice of life" is correct. I like the analogy of everyone sitting around in a room talking, having a friendly get-together. An assortment of topics can be discussed.
