  1. Deals are still out there..I got two set of Dietz 510s very reasonable at a swap meet. My fog lights I bought for a few dollars also at a swap meet..no mounts..found a set of Unity on e-bay with two sets of brackets..one set has Mopar Logos..and the 3rd set of foggers were given to me, rough about the edges..so these I blasted and painted argent silver... Then this last swap meet I got a set of US 400 back up lights with mounts .....So go beat some bushes..the deals are out there...just gotta keep pluggin'
  2. sad part is that the repair shops do have these and do use them..at 75.00 a roll...
  3. You have fog lights and you have driving lights..they ae not the same..it is the way the light is diffused from the lens that set these apart. You will need 4 units up front to have both. Unity and Dietz are the two more popular lamps. I believe in my opinion that the Dietz is all over the Unity in driving lights and the cut of the lens is the big difference. The Dietz will have 'driving' printed on the lens. The chrome housing are a higher quality also. Appleton is another brand name out there...to find period lights like these is not that hard but will come at a price..though dollar for dollar they are a great accessory...using "period" mounts make these babies really stand out from the so-so stuff of modern times.
  4. You original temp gauge is mechanical.. The fuel gauge..should not be a problems as it is current driven device versus voltage..so polarity should not matter....I know on the two wire sender these will work + or - ground and 12 or 6 volt..they hve a 5 volt regulator built into them..
  5. The flexplate is used with torque convertors with the ring gear incorporated..(Mopar) the flex plate bolts to the crank..the convertor has 4 studs that go through the flexplate and nut up. Ford uses a starter ring gear and as such the the flex plate/ring gear is one piece and the torque convertor then bolts to that...I do not have a book in here for GM at the moment...
  6. 16 years and counting Norm..and my car does not get out that much either..it is not the use or lack of use...I drove my Porsche constantly with the Facett brand solid state for over 5 years before I sold it..never a fault...proper wire size, good connections and grounds plays a more important role. I have the same baby now installed on the 41 Bigbutt..'cept I think Facett brand is no longer and Bendix and Purlator market the same animal.
  7. Now that you put it that way..about a quart of that special cleaning fluid... I would grab the can of gasoline for the lawn mowers just to get me that extra mile or two away if needed..
  8. I'd probably take myself out of the area...PERMANENTLY Birth certificates, SS cards..insurance documents..stuff vital for emergency heath care and identification..definitely my gun..looter if they arive need no more unlawful weapons than they already own..
  9. till he's a dead old man...too old to change
  10. These engine already have the hardened valve seat, the advantage truck engines have is the positive valve rotator..and sodium filled valves.
  11. http://www.plymouthbulletin.com/54plymouth.htm Chronology of the 54 model year...
  12. Not sure what kind of racing history this car may have had but the dash is still stock in appearance. However looks like an exhaust pipe on the left frame rail..could this car have been dualed out earlier. With the fender cuts, glass gone and that plexiglass looking thing..maybe from a local outlaw class dirt track. The rockers do look worse for wear..typical..the frame however I would not be that much worried about..I have seen plenty of these eaten away in the floor and rocker and not a hint of damage to the frame. This car would fall under "major undertaking.."
  13. Way to go Ed...I had never payed attention so went to look at the 218 in my 41 Town Sedan just a minute ago....and sure as shooting ..there it was..just like in Charlie's picture
  14. It is according how it was posted on the site..if uploaded from a personal computer the size will be such to allow future reposting..if however uploaded via a URL from a hosting site like photobucket...then the picture size can really be quite large.
  15. Know what you mean about the car..however..buying it to later pull the running gear for something else..well would have to be able to get the car for very little outflow. I have a 440 here at the house that was dyno'd at 463 HP...just a tad much for antyhing I want on the road..but hell of a good trade value. Matter of fact glad I had that engine and tranny here..just found the 727 in the Bigbutt had a bad neutral safety switch...broken internal return spring..so am able to continue the march...sometimes though it is hard to pass on a real good deal...
  16. Hey Don...I recognize that wall and shell sign...you were in need of springs..glad you got them on...was hoping to see you on a return visit to Elko....
  17. That is nice enough..but gonna be a monster to feed....not sure how my 383 is going to do on the road but steps have taken to limit RPM with the 2.72 ratio 8 3/4..hopefully it will be a nice cruiser at moderate RPM..this hog may have a 3.23, if you lucky a 2.94
  18. Sorry Don..nothing chitty about my car....lol Beside pontoons are quite bulky and would block access to getting in the car...so went for hydrafoils instead.
  19. Come on now John..get the Plymouth B.Cp. out and take it across..we all know the Mayflower floats...
  20. improper marking light front fender...
  21. documentation...? and why did it have AC controls and no AC..? Where did that ignition system come from much less the gauges..not period correct..maybe the bidder got it for the fish smell.
  22. I would say that the panels are worth more to him for his finished product, in other words he is in the busienss for top resale not to provide material for DIY's..even I think if you were going to do it yourself you would make your own blanks.
  23. I have worked for the government for 33 years...got much time logged at the watering hole, also 20 years military duty...and this is a first..I did laugh...
  24. Matt Dillon...don't want to shoot down your favorite western idol but after 23 years on TV..all he ever asked Miss Kitty for was a beer...but here is a bit of triva...Poncho Villa escaped across the Mexican border in a Dodge...
