  1. Here's a few pics of the Fatman stub attached and one with the motor in as well.
  2. then they changed their manufacturing process.....my bad
  3. I don't want to be a fly in the ointment but you should never weld on a Griffin radiator. They are very good radiators but they are epoxied tanks, not welded. Once you weld, the chance of excess heat may jeopardize the seal.
  4. Restoration Specialties' has many type of weatherstripping. You may find they have exactly what you need or get something close to work.
  5. I got to look at them close up and saw how they bolted on and they will NOT fit. Screw locations are totally different..................but thanks for the help.
  6. I found a pair of inside front window trim pieces from a 1950 Plymouth fastback. Question is........will they fit my 50 Ply suburban 2 dr.wagon? thanks in advance.
  7. There are many pros and cons to this......but it all boils down to how much money you want to spend and how much of the work can be done by you. I sold my prostreet for a great price and earmarked the money for the upgrades to my wagon. Putting in an IRS was a deciding factor in putting in a new front end as well. I have a good friend who has a fab shop here in my town and I contracted him to do all the fab work. I do not fool myself into thinking I could do this type work myself so I had someone who knew what the hell they were doing. I can tell you this..........the car drives like a new caddy and handles and stops on a dime. I have found with age comes wisdom and knowing ones limitations is foremost when you are behind the wheel.
  8. My kids and wife when in doubt usually get me a gift certificate to Jegs or Summit or Speedway. There are always things you can find that you want there.
  9. Not a big fan of them. Have a buddy with a 49 Ply with one and he has the same problem I have with my chopped top....................you have to stop at redlights farther back so you can see when it changes or get a traffic light diffuser for the dash.
  10. If you are going to use this washer every day then it may be a good investment. But like everyone has said about getting rid of the used stuff and also finding a useable spot out of the way to put it is another factor. I have found using the non-chlorinated brake cleaners have done what I needed and then I throw the can into the recycle bin.
  11. This conversion from Fatman was on my 50 Ply wagon when I bought the car. The guy and his son did the setup. The only thing I did not like was the R&P was directly under the motor in the middle of the front crossmember. Now I do not know if this was done correctly and that was how the steering was meant to be. I put a 360 mopar in my wagon and there was no way the pan would fit. I changed over to a complete Fatman stub with R&P,PS,and coilovers with discs. Was lots more work and money but ride is much better and motor fits better as well.
  12. A small compressor like that is good for blowing off parts and maybe filling a tire or two, but a lot depends on what you plan to do. If you are saving it for sentimental reasons, that's one thing. But if you are looking to use this in your shop, you may want to just bite the bullet and move up to a newer one.
  13. When I did the doors on my 50 wagon, I first blew out all the dirt and then vacuumed. Then I made sure the drain holes at the bottom were open. Now I got some R-M spray undercoating and sprayed the inside about a foot up the door. If any water gets in it should drain and if it lays, it shouldn't rust either.
  14. Reminds me of the old style customizing from the 50-60's. Everything done is done right and so subtle that if you didn't know what you were looking at, you would think that's the way it was built. I really like the look and you're doing one helluva nice job.
  15. Mostly looking for trim pieces. Since my top is chopped and roof is canted forward, I am not using inside window trim so that's not needed. I am not sure what goes inside at the rear of the inside roof . Not sure if the headliner covers everything that's now exposed or what. The car came to me as basically a bare shell with very little in the way of extra inside original parts.
  16. I found a yard that deals with old everything. It's in Denton ,Tx and was wondering if anyone here has done business with them. I was on their site and found many old Mopars that they do part out. I also would like anyone here to put some detailed pics up of an interior from a 50 Suburban wagon. I am looking for interior pieces and wanted to see if any from a 2 dr cp would fit my front doors. Thanks
  17. I am using Lucas hot rod/classic 10w-30 oil in my wagon. In their ads it states NOT to use oils with high zinc in any cars with a catalytic converter . So using it in your truck would not be a good idea.
  18. I can never understand why idiots who have the knowledge and know how in doing something as asinine as hacking a car website does not use his or her skills to do something productive. If I had those computer skills I would have my own computer business helping people removing the idiots who have hacked them or removing viruses from their computer.
  19. I had a scissors lift a few years back. It worked well but the main problem I ran into was you couldn't just put it on the floor and be able to pick up any vehicle, unless it sat a good 10-12 inches high. My daughters cars sit low and you just couldn't drive over cause it hit. I had to build full length ramps about 4 inches high along both sides of the lift. With the ramps in one bay, it took up space and you had to watch your step when moving about in the shop. I did eventually sell it and am glad I did.
  20. I have a Hobart mig 110v model. I wanted it to do sheet metal and small welding around my shop. I also got a gas bottle at TSC because I am not a big fan of welding with flux core wire. The gas makes such a nicer weld.
  21. I emailed SMS Fabrics in Oregon. Their contact is Doug Pollock and he said he could make me a headliner for my 50 Ply wagon. They have the patterns and is not a problem....he said $259.00. I asked him if they could match the same material I already had in my new backseat. I sent them a sample of the vinyl my seat was done in and they said it could be matched. The price went to $275. I figured that was a decent price as the guy who did my seat wanted close to $650. I guess it pays to have these older patterns in stock
  22. Don..............thanks so much for putting these pics up.............after going thru them, it brought back memories of seeing some of them back in the day.
  23. Welcome...............my name says it all...............have been a member here for a few years. You won't find a more knowledgeable bunch of old Mopar guys than you do here. Since I got my wagon 7 years ago I have asked many questions and always got the correct answer.
  24. There was a local show on Saturday,19th............it was at a farm that had all the fall fun stuff, hayrides, corn maze etc. My grandson has not had a ride in pop-pop's new hot rod so I called him to see if he was interested in going and he called me back and said yes. I picked him up at my daughters place which is on the way to the show. When he got in he looked over at me and said "awesome". He is 10 years old and he has been going with me to car events since he was in a stroller. But this was the first time he got to ride in my new hot rod. We both had a great time and it's too bad the season is coming to an end here but I told him next spring we will start going to more shows.
  25. It's a Jensen Interceptor.............came with a 440 Mopar motor
