Yes this can absolutely happen. But lowering float(s) may help but fuel can still boil and expand. Worse with ethanol corn squeezin hootch fuel... Ive tried lowering float but how well does it work on a 90 degree day.

Even a hopped 265 will be nothing like the 315, no replacement for displacements and breathing

UPDATE: Hey all, did not post much lately on this swap, all has been on hold and hope to get back at it soon. The AoK plate while a great quality piece, was not going to work on my large truck bell housing (slight different trans bolt pattern), thats what my Canadian built truck with a T98 Acme trans is equipped with. Not what was expected, but this particular bell was not engineered to work with the adapter plate, but another is being engineered as I write this post, so stay tuned. But here are pics of Harry37s build from the HAMB, his A833 trans and AoK adapter plate coupled with his Chrysler flathead 6. A great swap, not difficult in the least, looks great, and works very well. I was recently approached by a member as to what was happening with this swap, and no I have not given up or failed on the switch, just a roadblock. I do have a Blog Page for this swap, and invite the member to visit it, and post any questions or comments there. So hopefully will get going again soon, and get her done...

Yes I agree mine is symptomatic of starving for fuel rather than flooding.
-
Hi Tim, never run ethanol blended fuels and same results. I agree the coil can get hot and make it a hard start too. I tried the lower float fix, marginal results...

Okay inquiring minds wanna know about the Curvette race from light to light....LOL

If your happy all that matters. Correct? Hot starts can be a bitch. Have not found a real solution for this to date, have you? I dont recall any Slant6 of mine being hard to start when really hot out. Lots of flathead 6s though.
-
Hard starts when hot? Typical of a lot of these engines.
-
Note your stamping not quite straight. Factory or a rebuilder stamping on numbers? The C54 engine nice straight stamping. C54 is not identified as a Chryslsr 6 engine on the T137 registry. For some real accurate identification I suggest you PM Bill Watson or Tim Kingsbury. Most on here are only guessing.

Thanx work looks very good...

Kool on the rear disc conversion. How bout some pics or did you post it on here in the past?

Why not advertise them and see. 4.11 great for an od or A833 OD or even a NWC T5 with .73 OD.

49 Plymouth Conv - Install 350 cu.in/Rear end/ master Cyl
55 Fargo replied to Oldtimelampshop's topic in P15-D24 Forum
Adam, Feel free to swap in any mill you want. The same goes for the OP, his car, his money, his choice. You see it a certain way and so do I and many others. Old Lamp doesn'thave to leave, but with his plans he is going to be a minority around here. Customs or stock flathead 6s or V8s, did not notice anything goes but maybe it does now. This site is and has been getting watered down for years now. I realize we all have different tastes, but we should be promoting Ma Mopar shouldn't we? -

Kirkwood the OP can build it anyway he so chooses. Does not mean I agree with his choice as Im sure many others. Go fund me...? Get real, on the HAMB there was a Go Fund Me for the San Diego highway Man. He blew the engine in his 55 Mercury Rescue Wagon. This ole guy rescued a lot of people stranded on freeways of So Cal. It was a worthy effort. Is this? -
51 2 1/2 ton flathead 6 head question
55 Fargo replied to RedHot71's topic in Mopar Flathead Truck Forum
Well 1 reason is to measure engine stroke through that hole. Not sure what Chrysler intended its use for other than that. -

Hey appreciate the "Newer Site Guidelines", however it does not mention a SMALL BLOCK 350 CHEBBY. Not to mince words...lol -

Hey List OLS, Your car, your money, your the piper who calls the tune. Dont expect a group dedicated to Flathead Mopars to dance to your music. This is a Mopar site and you come here flexing a 350 sbc transplant, might be some backlash. I realize it aint a Duesenberg, but it ain't a 49 chebby either. Many on here would feel as I do but might not voice it, I did. Go to the HAMB or Chevy Talk or a streetrod site like Hotrodders Bulletin might be a whole lot more info on this type of swap. I realize reading added posts you have your reasons for this. Again your car, your choice whether I agree or not. Enuff said. -

Sorry man gonna step out on a limb on this. Or are you here to stir up the Mopar pot, 350 SBC phooey. Car like that should not be bastardized with a chebby 350. Just plain blasphemous. That is a beautiful car and what a shame. Your car your the boss I get that but with a car like that just plain wrong.. -
This absolutely works great. Learned this from you Sir. Let the shoes wear in, and periodically adjust minor adjusters. Works great. I have a bootleg tool for setting up shoes. It is no where near as accurate as the real deal. Once the shoes are close and you have even contact heel and toe the shoe lining needs to wear into the drums. Only substitute for a quickie wear in is a brake shoe radius grinder. All this hooey you need the Ammco or Miller tool is just that hooey. You gotta be careful on adjusting the majors and then let em wear in. Or borrow the " tool" from Coatney or Adams if they have it or will lend it. But you dont absolutely need it...

PM Tim Kingsbury. L series were on trucks after 1958. But this stamping is not super straight. So maybe a dealer replacement or a large rebuilder back in the day. If not seized pull plug over cyl#6 and insert stiff wire and hand crank engine to measure stroke. If 4 1/2 or 4 3/4 could be 250 or a 265..

Ribbed 49 bumpers and 49 tailights. Looks like a good project. Good luck and keep posting your progress updates. Yes just buy a compressor and air up tires...lol Unless you already have a compressor...lol
