What did I miss? Inner and outer tie rods, upper and lower,and inner and outer control arms, upper and lower king pins. Tomorrow dizzy genny and speedo will get oil, door hinges, jood and trunk hinges. Hood relaese and trunk lock some graphite. Quote
55 Fargo Posted July 18, 2008 Report Posted July 18, 2008 You could add some grease into the axle bearing fittings on the diff, if they need it, check your lube levels in your trans, diff for peace of mind, as well inspect your wheel cyls, mc level, and maybe repack your front wheel bearings, if you are so inclined..........Fred ps don't forget about checking the levels in your steering box Quote
RobertKB Posted July 18, 2008 Report Posted July 18, 2008 On your master cylinder or thereabouts there are a couple of zerks for greasing the clutch and brake pedals. Also on my '48 Dodge D25 it has factory U joints each with a zerk. No Detroit joint on it and never was. Wish I could find more of these as I would love one for my '53. Most of the parts cars around here are long gone! Quote
Normspeed Posted July 18, 2008 Report Posted July 18, 2008 Let's see, my 53 has 2 or 3 fittings in the brake/clutch linkage area. P15-P25 manual says 4. I think the example in the manual is a P25 so yours might be different. How about the little windshield wiper shaft housings? On a p24-p25 they have a little fill hole with a screw for a plug. You put in a couple drops of light oil. I haven't followed through on this but I think the secret is to buy two sets of these in two colors, and when you grease each fitting, swap to the fresh color. If you miss one it will stand out. Quote
JIPJOBXX Posted July 18, 2008 Report Posted July 18, 2008 I had more fun than a barrel of monkeys when I took my Dodge down to Walmart and had them due there complete lube and oil change for 19.95. They spent about an hour with my instruction manual in hand locating the various grease fitting. They did the job right as the kids just love to check out the underside of a rig more than 65 years old. Quote
