Hi all, pulled my plugs tonight, they have about 1500 to 2000 miles on them since March, when I last ahd them out.

They were amazingly clean, not fouled a slight brown/beige tinge to them, but other wise clean.

Does this mean all is well internally on my engine, I was expecting to see either black or some carbon, as the engine is old, and I don't think rebuilt.

I cleaned the plugs,as I mentoned not very dirty, regapped them and installed them with a bit of never seize on the threads.

I am guessing the igntion/fuel portion of my engine must be okay.......Fred

The slight brown tint sods good to me. Don't you know these guys are worse than a Rotary meeting about hounding when you make a mistake. You are just lucky it is over the internet and they can not levy a fine. Using spell check, Frank

I pulled my spark plugs out the other day. And sure enough as soon as I sat them on the work bench I heard them start out with "Once upon a time". Now I did not have time to listen to the whole story but when I returned a half hour later I heard them say "And they lived happily ever after"

Daer Shel,

I think that if you change plugs (New) and run them say

200-300 miles then read them you will get a better

reading.

The plugs in your picture look like they have been in for quite

some time. But I guess reading them any time is usefull.

question- I pulled a plug on Son's Mustang - it is very white just as if put in yesterday- but have been in 2000 miles- does that indicate to little fuel supply?

Pulled mine (AC 45) this am to clean and check the gap. After about 5000 miles, they looked like the just came out of the box, although the gap had opend a bit to .27. Reggapped them wiped off the outside and put them back in.

Well you guys got my curiosity up so I checked my plugs too. These are Autolite 306, gapped at .028. The first pic was taken at 8,000 miles, running a 150 thermostat, and right after a highway trip of around 1400 miles.

After that I went to the 180 thermostat. Here are the same plugs, now with almost 10,000 miles on them, right after a 50 mile freeway jaunt.
