I was at a junk yard looking for a bumper and stumbled upon a big 53. I could not really get to it but was able to pop the hood and see that it had a 25" engine with a dual carb set up. Also had a 2 speed rear end. Could not get to the id badge.

Everything was pretty rusty and I did not have my camera. If anyone is interested, I can go back and make a better effort to get to the truck and take some pics. Won't be for a week at the very least.

There were no tires/rims and the interior was shot.

Me and the boy finally made it out again the other day and this is the first I have been able to post anything.

The head measured 30 inches long so I apologize for the 25' reference. Last time I was out the shrubberies were too tought to get through and I just knew it was bigger than the 218.

The truck is really beefy. I could not get the driver's door open so I was not able to see the vin tag.

The guy that owns the yard is not interested in parting little pieces out. He may sell the entire engine but not just the intakes.

I tried to take good pictures but sometimes there were trees in my way and I had to send the boy in to take the shot. I'll never complain about crappy pics on ebay again.

I found some other trucks too with parts I think many of us need. I'll post those on a separate thread with a link to the other pics after I upload them

Maybe it will be worth a trip to NY for someone or worth shipping. The owner is a pretty good guy but treats some stuff like it is made of gold (and some of it is getting close).

the 30 inch mopar truck big 6 was in 2.5 ton and up trucks, came in two displacements 331 and 413. You can do a search on All Par for more detailed information. The dual ex and dual intake were factory deals. Reg Evens may also be versed on them he might even have a couple in his collection.

Actually Greg,I think Dodgeb4ya on this forum is the go to guy for the larger 30" engines.

I have the dual intake and exhaust for the 25" truck engines I'll be installing one of these days on my 251 that lives in my 52 1/2 ton.

Actually Dodge built these big 30" head length engines in 5 displacements- of 281/306/331/377ci. and the biggest being the 413 cubic inch engine. All were 7 main bearing blocks. All of these BIG block engines from 1941 to 1956 looked basically the same. Early ones up to 1949 all were factory single carbs and single exhaust. 1950 was the start of the dual carbs and dual exhaust. Buses were always factory single carb/exhaust. 413's had a 4-1/16" bore with a 5-5/16" stroke and were produced from late 1952 to 1956 and were used only in the 4 ton trucks. All the other smaller displacement engines had a 3-3/4" bore with different length strokes. These engines have a weight of around 950 lbs less transmission. I have 4 of these big series Dodge trucks from 1951 to 1953 including a 413ci. B4YA truck. If it's big and heavy and a Dodge truck- I've got to have it!

Greg what stude parts are you looking for? The yard I was in yesterday had 3-4 of them from your era. Even had 2 of the last ones with the lark front end.

Well my hood is servicable but just so a hood from a 55, 56, 57 would be nice.

I could use the door mirrors, and I need the inside door trim panel for the passenger door.

I have seen a couple Studebakers out there but I don't have a good handle on where they are or what years/condition they are in.

I just know I have seen the long name on the tailgates and laugh because my last name is 11 letters long and that is about what it would look like on a tailgate.
