I checked out a car for one of our forum members today, I had to drive to Laplata MD today in heavy traffic because this guy was going to NC for the week end. He said the bidding may have ended by the time he got back so I needed to see the car now. I talked to him for about an hour. He was very nice however he did not know about our forum. He wants to sell his car and has no interest in restoring it. It's funny, he said the brakes did not work and he tried to remove the rear drum to check it, he said he pulled and pulled but could not get it off. Somebody better get it quick:rolleyes: I told him how to remove it and he thought I was a Einstein. It's listed on the ebay has anyone seen it, I don't know how to look to see if anyone has bidded on it.

Looks like one that a person could hop right in and drive......then start

fixing it up later.

I really like the paint scheme on this one in Oklahoma......

No idea what that trim is from.

Maybe a different pair of colors........

I am waiting for Ken to contact me, The car does not have alot of rust however someone did try to repair a couple of holes in the floor. I started and ran, I told the guy that his opening bid was a little high, he like all ametures think that if something is old it's worth a lot of money. The thing is you could drive this car while you restore it. The battery is 12 volts so I assume it's been converted. It seems nice, not my cup of tea:cool: I like coupes. I drove mine over to see him and he thought it was great. "You think mine will look like that when it's done" I said no cause "it's not a coupe":D It would be different 2 dr wagons are nice as well Think of a "Nomad"

I paid $3500 for my 53 wagon, in similar condition. Running, but bad brakes. I think if someone were looking, and could get it at that opening bid, they would be getting a decent car for the $$. It looks real complete. I've kept mine driveable while doing fixup work and it's been a hoot.

Chance,

Here's a couple of photos of an early 49 with the split back window and a photo of mine.

And a fresh clear coat compliments of Mother Nature.

Wow, now that's nice, I have been very closed minded. I only look at the coupes, I have missed so much, the 49 even has those ribbed bumpers that I love. First the 41 panel now this suburban. That split window is interesting. I have got to get out more:D The white walls make it.

Nice rig Norm. See...I knew we could turn Rodney with those shiny clear coat finishes.

You may have nailed it Tim ......but on the other hand....... some of those bidness coupes have room for two campers, an ice chest and a HiFi.

Just for a comparrison....... I sold this one on eBay recently.

It's no where near the condition of the one Rodney posted.

Reg's ebay listing is the one I bought - I think the other one listed looks like a good deal too...I also had recently inquired about a local craigslist '51 suburban that sounded like it was in similar conditon as Reg's for about $2500 - I never saw it in picture or person - I think it was missing rear seats but it was in running condition...
