Yankee or Dixie Test OT

This is kind of fun especially for someone like me who grew up in New England but have lived in Virginia for 35+ years. I scored 48% Yankee.

I was born a Hoosier and have only lived in Dixie for 8 years. I scored

52% (Dixie). Barely into the Dixie category.

I scored 48% Yankee!! That is weird. I guess it differentiates between New Englanders and Mid-Westerners. At one time almost all migration was due West. This explains speech patterns that extend from Tennesee to Oklahoma and Bakersfield. Sioux City Iowa was first developed by Western New Yorkers and others from the Northeast. Even with an influx of Swedes, Germans and others the speech pattern was set.

We say creek as crick if it doesn't have a proper name. Lets go to the crick. Lets go to Perry Creek. Just west us in Nebraska, you'll find a bit of a twang. Either way I am not Southerner nor would they claim me. I lived in Dallas in the late 70s. I was in a store and as soon as you spoke you knew you stood out. This gal at the check out asked me if I knew what the difference between a "Yankee" and a "Damn Yankee". I said I didn't but I was sure she would inform me. "A Yankee visits and a Damn Yankee stays" Hmm. I guess I was just a Yankee!! Eric

Geez, I'm 57% Dixie and I've lived in Toronto Canada all my life, go figure. I do like grits though!

I guess I didn't stay in Arkansas long enough. I am still 48% Yankee. I'm still all Southron in my heart though. Just don't talk that way.

59% (Dixie). Barely into the Dixie category.

But I did live in TX and LA for several years, always loved the south

I don't think that test is worth much. I scored 44% yankee even though I have never lived anywhere but northern Indiana.

OK, figure this, My daughter-in-law tried it and scored 60% Dixie. She was raised in Connersville Indiana . Thats where her father is from and her mother is from Scarbourough England.

We did have a good time with it, its a fun test.
