Dodge Truck Ads

Just thought I would share these ads from Time magazine about 1948 and 1950 Pilothouse trucks. A friend found them at a local antique mall last weekend. The images are a little big but I wanted you all to be able to read the text. Interesting stuff. The one for the 1950 is from July 3, 1950 and the one for the 1948 is visible at the bottom of the page, March 15, 1948.

it's nice to know that I can can use the cab as an "easy chair" with the widest seat available. So did you spend the $5.00 or just take a photo:D

Thanks Dave. I have to admit, I'm kind of an AD junkie. I have a bunch of original ADs I've bought from ebay. Mostly late sixties Mopar Muscle, I've just started to build the 48 Dodge collection...:D

Yeah, I bought 'em. I put them with my Don Bunn book for safe keeping. Actually, the antique mall was having a weekend sale so the two ads in the protective covers only cost me $8.00. I couldn't hardly pass that up. Dave

I was just kidding about the buying.

Hey that's OK, no offense taken. I guess now I'm gonna have to keep my eyes open for any more things like that. I don't hit ebay as often as I used to so I'm probably missing some there but I have had some "bad experiences" there. Nothing that I'd leave negative feedback because of misrepresentation of an item, just dissapointed by the last second bidder(s) who "stole" something that I really wanted and thought I had won only to be beat out at the buzzer. Now I don't do much "bidding" but I look for BUY IT NOW stuff that I can get without getting into a bidding war with someone who has deeper pockets than me. Dave

Dave if you really want some pilot house ads I have a few I could do without. They came with 39-47 truck ads that I bought. Also have a bunch of 46-48 plymouth ones. I have these 2 and 1 other car one and 3 truck ones framed and hanging around the house. Sorry no pictures handy of the truck ones.

dodgepu1946, thanks for the offer. I would be interested in them if the "price is right". PM me as to what you would like to get for them. Dave

Now those are really cool! And they were printed before I was born!

Yep, I've got 5 images visible. They look great! I'm still very interested in them. They'd be a nice addition to my budding collection. Shoot me a price . I'm sure we can work something out. Dave

Will PM for details. So strange I cant see them myself but anyway one is duplicate-I only have 4. And the one shows a pilot house but its really an ad from the 60s. I've got some 60s truck ads too if anyone has those.

Now from work I can see them in my bucket too. So weird! Sadly that nice color one was too big to fit in my scanner so the sides and bottom are cut off. I was going to scan a bunch of my plymouth ads and my job rated truck ones too but they are too big! Might have to go scanner shopping :)

Over on the car board I posted a link to a bunch of 40' through 60's illustrations. There are a lot of car and truck stuf from ads, brochures and manuals. Quite a bit of Dodge Truck art work like that show above. You can spend about an hour or so cruising that site.
