Need white space (between paragraphs)

I'm getting old, and the eyes aren't as good as they used to be. (Hit the enter key a few times)

When I start reading someone's post which is all solid words, I get to the end of the lliine and get lost trying to find the beginning of the next line. My eyes start watering and I give up. (Hit the enter key a few times)

It's so much easier to read if the paragraphs are only a few lines long, with some space between them. (Hit the enter key a few times)

Isn't that easier to read than if everything is run together? (Hit the enter key a few times)

never give up !

never !

I know what you mean, physical detoriation just slowly takes over. Just find ways to cope with it, ensure you have good light for reading.

Oh, just bought a new flatscreen. The old 19" CRT monitor was is so bad state that you could barely read with glasses on. Everything was blurry.

After the switch I can read the screen without glasses (but with glasses it is better).

A paragraph is a self-contained unit of a discourse in writing dealing with a particular point or idea, or the words of an author. The start of a paragraph is indicated by beginning on a new line and ending without running to the next passage. Sometimes the first line is indented, and sometimes it is indented without beginning a new line. At various times the beginning of a paragraph has been indicated by the pilcrow mark:¶.

Structure

Paragraphs are structured differently in different kinds of writing. The non-fiction paragraph goes from the general to the specific to advance an argument or point of view. Each paragraph builds on what came before and lays the ground for what comes next. Paragraphs generally range two to eight sentences all combined in a single paragraphed statement.

The general American practice is to indicate new paragraphs by indenting the first line (three to five spaces), with blank lines between paragraphs, while business writing uses blank lines and no indent. For educational papers indents and no blank lines are preferred.

Don S, English lessons aside, I have to agree. About ten years ago I stopped reading some magazines because of thier choice of using white print in on colored sections of the pages. Then I stopped reading the newspaper because the "light was bad". Then it dawned on me that I may need glasses. I hated the thought, but gave in.

Now even with glasses, I have the same difficulty that you have, often finding mysel re reading lines because I have lost my place in what I am reading.

So I guess it does make things easier when there are breaks in the lines of text. Like a comma represents a pause, and a period means stop. (remember when Telegrams included the actual word stop at the end of sentences)

The paragraph represents a brief rest for our old data systems, it does seem to make things easier.

Perhaps the "BOLD" type is easier also??

What you need to do is increase the size of the text on you browser at the very top should be a menu there you will see the word view click on it and you get a drop down that read text size from there you can increase the size of the text which will make the letters bigger and open on the lines.

You may also be able to hold the control key down and hit the pluse key at the same time. I have increased the font size of this message to give you a idea what I am trying to say.

Life was much easier in the old days ... - --- .--.

It was over ten years ago when my arms were suddenly too short to read anything ... - --- .--.

-.-. .- -. -.-- .-. .- -. ... .-.. .- - . - .... .. ...?

I have an English motorcycle. I went on an all English ride the other day and noticed the bikes were all owned by "old guys." Every time I see someone driving an old car it's usually an "old guy." So I found it interesting that everyone seems to be in agreement (not totally unusual) about reading posts.

For me I went to the supermarket and got a pair of their off the rack reading glasses. That helped. Actually I was at a swap meet and picked up 6 pair for $10 and I keep a pair next to my bed, computer, work, glove box.

I gotta tell you this getting old crap isn't as much fun as I thought it would be when I was 20. It's kind of sad that a car that was built AFTER I was born is considered an antique. What are we coming to?

Well, everyone could write everything as a draft. That way you have double spacing between each line like this.

DRAFT:

is indicated by beginning on a new line and ending without running to the next

passage. Sometimes the first line is indented, and sometimes it is indented

How come nobody tried to break my coded message posted earlier:confused:

-.-. .- -. -.-- .-. .- -. ... .-.. .- - . - .... .. ...?

I'm a little rusty on the code - haven't used it since 1971 - took the test and promptly forgot -

Of course I'm rustier than I thought because it doesn't make sense to me:

C P Y R P S L W E T H I S
