oldodge41 Posted November 27 Report Posted November 27 All business, no frills, easy access to maintain, and a big butt too! What's not to love? 1 Quote
DonaldSmith Posted November 27 Report Posted November 27 In this photo, the back of the roof reflects the top of the garage wall. It looks like some sort of wrap-around rear window, with a dark tint. The first time I saw this photo, few years(?) ago, it took me quite a while to figure it out. An "optional delusion". 1 Quote
jclars Posted November 27 Report Posted November 27 Did the P number remain the same regardless of model year? For instance, Loren called her 1949 a P17. Was this the designation through all the years? I just got the service manual for my 1950 BC and they show the shortened frame dimension, but don't mention it as "Business Coupe" frame. I recall there were three different P designations for that shortened frame, one being the convertible. John Quote
Loren Posted November 27 Report Posted November 27 I asked about this too. The 49 P17 has a P18 engine number which I am told was normal. Quote
Young Ed Posted November 27 Report Posted November 27 For just a few years there were 2 wheel bases and they each had a P#. P17 and 18 for 1949 P19 and 20 for 1950 and then P22 and 23 for 1951 and 1952 models. Quote
jclars Posted November 27 Report Posted November 27 So my business coupe, being 1950, would be a P19. I think I have been mislabeling it as a P20 for lack of clarification. Thanks! And thanks for this post. I am wondering, is the pic by your (Young Ed) ring binder a factory issued booklet or one you made? Quote

jclars Posted November 28 Report Posted November 28 Cool! Is there a pic in there of one loaded up with goods? Was there a shelf option for the Business Coupe? Or was that added by the dealer/salesman? Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted November 28 Report Posted November 28 not so sure about other folks coupes...both of mine had only have the forward bulkhead and package as the finishing touches on enclosure with the Dodge having the locking fitted cubby behind the passenger side of the seat and the drivers side got the curtain that was held with snaps and finished package tray that hid the spare tire from view. The Plymouth has the exposed fitted spare tire finished bulkhead and package tray. It has been finished by me to have a fitted inside the trunk bulkhead and side panels due to the zero emissions fuel system and hidden stereo. Jack is hidden behind the spare and the tools are fitted in a tray that finished the inside lower bulkhead. The spare is fitted with a sewn cover as is the floor fitted with matching vinyl to the panels after sewing a hem around the dges. Many complete these to complement their build and actual purpose.
