GTfastbacker Posted July 7 Report Posted July 7 After i had success and got the starter working again i found a broken hose so now the car spills engine oil arround. The ole Dodge is nearly 100% original stock so i am looking for a idea how to replace this hose with stock appearance. Its the flex hose for oil pressure gauge near steering column inside engine compartment . seams to be bras, not stainless steel. 3/8“ to 3/8“ female, 5 Inch long Thank you do much Joe . Quote
desoto1939 Posted July 7 Report Posted July 7 Most of these hoses for the oil gage are rubber so that when the engine might move the rubber then can flex and this prevents the oil line from bending and breaking and leaking. You can get a replace rubber oil line on Ebay or contact Andy Bernbaum for your MoPar Vender. Rich Hartungdesoto1939@aol.com 1 Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted July 7 Report Posted July 7 why did you not give the starter thread closure as to what was needed to do the repair.....this could in the future help others when like yourself, they come to the forum for help. Quote
Sam Buchanan Posted July 7 Report Posted July 7 This is one of the first things that should be replaced when restoring a long dormant car to service for the reason you observed. The hose you have is a braided rubber hose, the new one you get from Berbaum will be rubber without the jacket. You can see the new hose on my car in the photo above. Quote
Sniper Posted July 7 Report Posted July 7 The braid is for abrasion resistance. If you are going to just run a plain rubber hose instead I would source one locally. The OP though, may not have that option being where he is. Quote

I like the firewall brake fluid resevoir (where you can see the fluid levels and not under the floor) The spin on oil filter is also nice. What is that on the firewall with red cap? Quote

What is that on the firewall with red cap? That is the inertia safety disconnect switch for the full-time electric fuel pump. The reservoirs are for the Wilwood dual circuit master cylinder. Yes, my P15 has some 21st century items (you can't see the alternator or disc brakes!) to make it a very reliable daily driver. 1 Quote
Booger Posted July 10 Report Posted July 10 those are the kind of upgrades I like, Sam. Im not a "purist" or a hot-rodder but upgrade all you like Mopar kids. For me as a plain corner gas station wrench turner, these cars were/and still are fun and ez to work on. ( and gas was .23) Change the brushes in a generator? Yup got that. Brake shoes? u-huh. These cars were bullet proof. Quote
Solution GTfastbacker Posted July 11 Author Solution Report Posted July 11 Thanks for the tip about Andy Beerbaum. He has the hose I needed but shipping it to Germany would have taken too long. Luckily I found a company that offers custom-made products online in Germany. The hose arrived today and fits perfectly but looked terribly modern. So I pulled out a few tricks and made an "old" hose out of it. It’s not perfect but I think I can live with that. Cheers Joe . 1 Quote
