ISO Carpet pics

Working on the finishing the interior on the Saratoga. Originally they had carpet in the rear and rubber mats in the front. The rubber mats were deteriorated to the point there was no saving them for patterns. I have the rear carpet replaced and beginning on the front, however the convoluted shape of the transmission tunnel makes the right side of my brain struggle with all the possible pattern possibilities?

Was hoping some on here would have some good photos that showed the final shape of the front carpet, also what was done to make allowances for all the access panels for the transmission and master cylinder.

similar approach on a car I just cut and fitted carpet.  I would gather the excess material with clamps. mark the backside, reverse the pinch and sew darts into the carpet then split these to lay flat....little time consuming but got a good fit overall.  I also sewed binding on the edges.....this is typical of the manner carpet is factory fit for the car in question....sadly the flash and LED lighting transforms the beautiful maroon to a washed out red.....showing swatch of true color....

Years ago,, I fitted a boat carpeting to the hump.  (Great match for the original hogshair carpet.) I forget 'zakly how I did it, a lot of fitting and hand-sewing.

The standard method of accommodating the hump was to cover it first, and have the carpet at the back and each side lap over it, with the edges serged.  I can't find my ancient photo of a visiting car.   (I was too cheap to pay someone serge my carpet.)

The carpet I bought fit tranny hump and all but in the end it was too wide I had to cut off the binding. I ended up using a 1/4" plastic panel nosing that I spray painted to match carpet and hot glued it. On drivers side I used velcro tape to access brake fluid tank. For the threshold I got some commercial vinyl coving and flipped it over using the wall side up as it has a rolled edge to hug the threshold meets door edge. And used a tube adhesive. (Have you seen the prices of after mkt thresholds??!!) Its held up pretty good

thresholds.....my car is not stock.....never entertained this from the concept to completion.  My thresholds were bought for 8.00 the pair at my local wrecking yard and adapted....while this will not suit everyone....do not rule out what you may be able to work with by strolling your local wrecking yard...

I've been trying to find  photo of the carpeting of a friend's Chrysler from long ago.  I remember that the carpet was serged where it lapped over the transmission hump.  I couldn't find the photo.

But I did find, among a series of photos of a a 1942 Chrysler limo, a shot showing the serging of the carpet at the transmission hump.

It looks like the main carpet had tongues going up behind the pedals, up the hump, and up the sloping floor on the passenger side.  The sides of the hump were covered by carpet pieces that extended under the serged sides of the main carpet.

(Ignore the black leather door panels, the enclosure behind the chauffer's seat, and the one-piece curved windshield.)

I am about to install the lower seat trim panels when I snapped this pic,  the local trimmer did a good job in my opinion and the manner the carpet is sewn and bound were well done.  I am not thinking you going to find a better fitting carpet for these cars outside a custom sewn and fitted by a good trim shop, they did the entire interior in a 10 day turn around for less than many get quoted for a set of seat covers only.  At least, give them an opportunity to show their work and costs.
