1950 over center spring question, does it ride in the groove like one pic or up on shoulder like other pics. If on the shoulder is it some kind of retainer I'm missing to hold it there. Thanks in advance.

had to come get on the computer, on my phone thats all it would let me do. i just clicked on reply and it still says loading. anyway to correct it? had to resize photos all the way down just to upload them.

This is for '46-'48 Dodge but should still apply to your car.  The over center spring attaches directly into that groove.  The spring tension holds it in place.  If it won't stay, it's not adjusted right.

Here is a copy of the miller over center spring tool taken from my Miller tool catalog. Are you using the proper tool or is this an aftermarket tool or a home made tool?

I think someone with the actual tool should make some hardwood copies and sell to those of us that front have one....

You could rent it out as it is usually a one and done type of tool.

 

Once the proper adjustment is done no need to repeat in your ;lifetime (we hope) !!  ?
