martybose Posted December 3, 2022 Report Posted December 3, 2022 (edited) I had a computer crash that destroyed all of my logins and passwords. I eventually got my original account working again here, but now with display ads. I've been here since 2006, and when we changed to this forum provider we had to do something to stop the ads, and I'll be damned if I can remember what. I tried to find out the right way, put a query in the Support forum a month ago, no response. Not surprising, since the only other entry was for 2015. So I tried messaging our admin, also no response. So does anyone remember what we had to do to eliminate the ads? I'm really not interested in wedding dresses or such tomfoolery. Sam Buchanan Posted December 3, 2022 Report Posted December 3, 2022 I run AdBlock on my PC and don't see any ads in the forum. This is an extension in the Chrome browser. You can also install Ghostery which kills many of the trackers that advertisers use to target ads. 1 Quote

P15-D24 Posted December 3, 2022 Report Posted December 3, 2022 Just a reminder, the ads make this site free to everyone. 4 Quote
RobertKB Posted December 3, 2022 Report Posted December 3, 2022 I get the ads but in reality I barely see them. I just scroll to the first thread. Ads don’t bother me as I pay no attention. 2 Quote
JBNeal Posted December 5, 2022 Report Posted December 5, 2022 Scrolling past ads on the internet is like ignoring billboards along the interstate: they're always gonna be there, most of the time they are uninteresting and irrelevant. Recently I had a spate of ads that I found offensive show up on here, not sure why they were on here other than I had read an online article about ppl being prosecuted for what the ads were selling...anyhow, for 3 consecutive days, I tapped the X in the upper right corner of the offensive advertisement and reported them. Since then, the ads have switched back to more regular fare like tools, work boots, new truck sales, Whataburger, etc. So X marks the spot...to fine tuning the advertisements that ya see on this site Quote
