I guess the angst was building when I discovered the freshly glued window channel slipped behind my back, and then the engine decided to only run with the choke out a bit and then started gurgling out the tail pipe and run rougher and lastly the radiator started to weep fluid out of the honeycomb behind the fan. Now generally I’m an optimistic person but all together it got to me. Ok. I can reglue and I can take apart the carb yet again and replace a fuel filter. I can also remove the radiator and shlep it to a radiator shop. I needed to get at the front anyway to install my grill that I still need to restore and ornament.  With a weather system and howling winds coming in I trekked to the Autozone closest to me to get a fuel filter. Really? A Plastic universal is all they had?  Well it was only $1.50. Ok. Across the highway is O Reilly’s and they had what I asked for. Wix brand. It’s what I’ve always used but lately I’ve been using the Napa Gold which is the same and Napa didn’t carry Wix...except...it’s been so long since I bought Wix...I forgot they even include the hose clamps. I guess it pays to bounce between 3 parts stores for this and that.  That made my day. Hose clamps and the wind is howling and clouds are coming and I hope it rains here in NM and I’m taking a few days off.

My understanding at least in the past several years was that Napa filter were made by Wix and all Napa filter #'s were just just one less or was it more #.

Something like your Napa filter in the pic is 3012 and Wix part would be a 63012.  I may have these #'s crossed up but they were similar as per my example.

For oil filters you put a 1 in front for the silver line and a 5 for wix

Time has passed and I fixed the window. Today I pulled the top of carb off and removed greenish gas outta the bowl. Pulled some guts out to check for blockage/dirt but it was ok. Replaced the fuel filter and tomorrow I will drain the St. Patricks green gas from the tank and get fresh gas.  Then...pull the radiator

That was funny.  The gas had a slight tint of green though. It reminded me of the tinted river in downtown Chicago this time of year. I prefer a red tint due to the Stabil I put in the gas. Now this is like red and green chili here in NM. We call it Xmas when you want both in your Mexican food.  I guess this gas is dissolving the added coating inside the supposed cleaned gas tank from 3 years ago. The old radiator cleaning guy swore he knew more than the guy on the street who put the average chemical in to seal.  Later I heard he retired and sold the business so I can’t redip it and nobody will hot tank gas tanks here anymore.  Thus... green chili it is on occasion
