White Spyder Posted February 16, 2022 Report Posted February 16, 2022 (edited) Anyone know where I can find this part around the steering column ? As you can see it is in need of replacement. Edited February 16, 2022 by White Spyder Quote
Sniper Posted February 16, 2022 Report Posted February 16, 2022 Probably different depending on the year make and model Quote

9 foot box Posted February 17, 2022 Report Posted February 17, 2022 Bernbaum has a steering column and gear shift boot, black or brown, C-390AorB, $80. MoparPro has one for $129.50. Roberts are $80 also, A100A. It would be a project, for sure. I would cut a rubber gasket and put it under the boot, to seal it better than what you have. Quote

White Spyder Posted February 17, 2022 Author Report Posted February 17, 2022 (edited) Thanks all. Looks like installation would be quite involved. Any suggestions? Edited February 17, 2022 by White Spyder Quote
Eneto-55 Posted February 18, 2022 Report Posted February 18, 2022 A gasket (as 6 foot box suggests), then either self-vulcanizing rubber tape wrapped around the column, with some sort of looser grommet or rubber hose (cut through on one side to get it on) around the shifter rod, which needs to be free to move. Could also use black rubber silicone to shape it somewhat like the original. Another option would be to construct a leather boot that could be stitched up (or laced) by hand after installation. I think this would be the best looking option. (With a flat rubber gasket underneath, to prevent water & dirt from coming up from the bottom as much as possible.) Quote
Bryan Posted February 19, 2022 Report Posted February 19, 2022 Maybe not this one but a split repair CV boot? https://www.walmart.com/ip/CV-Joint-Boot/171566300?wmlspartner=wlpa&selectedSellerId=0&adid=22222222222055926858&wmlspartner=wmtlabs&wl0=e&wl1=o&wl2=c&wl3=10373524075&wl4=pla-4578847495450578:aud-807615481&wl5=&wl6=&wl7=&wl10=Walmart&wl11=Online&wl12=171566300_0&wl14=zip boot CV joint&veh=sem&msclkid=9e81f3b1cb3b14ed3bd491a09efb8b06 Quote
White Spyder Posted February 20, 2022 Author Report Posted February 20, 2022 (edited) I purchased the seal from Burmbaum and it should be in Monday. Installation appears to require a lot of disassembly of the shaft for steering and shifting. I am going to carefully cut the seal and slip it over the two shafts. One once secured by the screws, use rubber cement to seal the cut. Thoughts? Edited February 20, 2022 by White Spyder Quote
DonaldSmith Posted February 20, 2022 Report Posted February 20, 2022 Years ago, i removed my seal and recoated it. I slit the seal to remove it, and coated it with tool handle dip. Looks good enough from a distance. I also did the door sills, but the tool dip has been peeling. Quote
