OUTFXD Posted January 25, 2022 Report Posted January 25, 2022 In cleaning the engine bay up I noticed a slight fuel leak coming from the carburetor. Looking up kits, The local Parts hause didnt have anything, and a broad search on the interwebs directed me to E-bay. I found a rebuild kit for $54. https://www.ebay.com/itm/174695969071 Right next to it was a rebuild kit for a 49-54 for $20 https://www.ebay.com/itm/384687963252 Both Kits are for a Carter Ball and Ball model 1. I am guessing I am getting Trendy taxed for about 100% of the cost. which led me to.. whats the difference? Both Kits are for a Carter Ball and Ball model 1. is it JUST trendy tax, or is there a legitimate difference? Quote
Sniper Posted January 25, 2022 Report Posted January 25, 2022 Look at the applications listed for the cheap one, it covers 46-54 1 Quote

Thank you! p.s. I am now noticing the cheap one is an auction with no "Buy now" option. Edited January 25, 2022 by OUTFXD Quote
allbizz49 Posted January 25, 2022 Report Posted January 25, 2022 Mike's carburetor parts has the best kits I've used. Complete and he uses quality parts. 1 Quote
Doug&Deb Posted January 25, 2022 Report Posted January 25, 2022 Whatever kit you choose make sure it contains ethanol resistant parts. 1 Quote
Young Ed Posted January 27, 2022 Report Posted January 27, 2022 Beyond Mike's you should be able to get a kit from any auto parts store 1 Quote
FarmerJon Posted January 27, 2022 Report Posted January 27, 2022 As a note on difference, some time between '48 and the early '50s the center section went to 3 bolts to base, vs earlier 2 bolts. Gasket kits may or may not come with both styles. Quote
