Bolt on Ford Carburetor for Flathead 6

In the past I have seen a reference to a 70s Ford carburetor that can be used to replace the Carter.  I have rebuilt my G6H2 carb many times and swap parts from other carbs to make it the best I can.  I don't know if it was a one or two barrel. When I got the 230 planned for my PU, it had a single barrel Holley.  The Holley list number says its original home was a 258CI AMC six.  It was a bolt on with no apparent mods needed.  The engine was originally in a 56 plymouth.  That basic Holley series was used on a lot of cars/trucks so it is likely that a Ford version of it exists.

I think this is what you are talking about.  I spoke to Jon at the Carburetor shop and although he said it was doable by either enlarging the mounting holes to the manifold or his suggestion was to take the bottom half of a B&B and cut it in half and then do the same to the bottom part on the YF. Then weld them together.  I decided a Langdons two barrel was better for me.

Is your two barrel mounted on a stock manifold?  Is it a true bolt on replacement?  Also, the progressive two barrel carburetor, with a Manual Choke intrigues me.

Everything you need is included. Some folks have rejeted the carb but I did not. Runs great.  I have the manual choke but did have to run it through the heater box by drilling two small holes in it. A good page of instructions comes with.  Plus Tom calls and discusses it with you before your order is sent.

Same, though my 218 needed re-jetting because I live in the subtropics. However, my 242 (airstream) likes the jets that came with it. With both I needed to sort the linkages a little.

I was able to do a bolt up with the supplied linkage. Easier than i thought it would be.

Back in the sixty I ran a Rochester carb off of a 6cyl chebby on my D5,which had a larger venturi then the original. Bolted right on the stock manifold ran great.

Mine is buried till Spring but if you look at the linkage as it crosses the head you can unscrew the end that attaches to the carb and screw in the new part provided.  Did not have to weld anything as the instructions suggest. At least on my 52 that is how it worked.  Looking at the pic on Landons site I see I must have used a combination of the original and the new to make it work.  I do remember it not being a big deal though.  One thing about the carb is the mixture screw is a pain get to after the heater box and air cleaner are installed so if possible try to get everything sorted mixture and idle speed wise before putting the heater box back in.  I took mine out for ease of access. You don’t have to.  Air cleaner makes getting to the high idle adjustment a challenge and you will need a medium screwdriver and  the ability to do a little bit of contortion to adjust regular idle with the heat box installed.  Note as well I have a horizontal linkage so all of this is based on that option.

As mentioned above, the kit comes with a linkage that needs to be welder to your existing linkage, I just used a universal ball joint type.
