Hey all, so my car does not have wiper arms or the bezel that the wiper arms attach to...  therefore there are gaping holes that allow water in if my car is ever out in the rain, which I don't plan on it being, but would still like those spots covered anyways.  Has anyone ever got creative with covering those holes?  Does anyone have any suggestions?  I am open to just about anything that doesn't look funky.  Basically I don't ever see me driving in the rain, but just in case I don't want any leaks.  I have other things that I need to tackle before that, so this would be a temporary fix until I have time to fix that permanently.  Thanks in advance.

You ever think about putting wipers in them holes?

I have to admit Texas is pretty lax about safety inspection here, when I had my truck inspected the daughter was sick and at home, so father the shop owner just passed it with out moving from desk.

If his daughter was there she would make sure the wipers worked and then lecture me on how old the rubbers were.

Wipers are something I seldom use in West Texas, I sure would not want a car without them.

I would probably make an oval plate to bolt on and cover the holes, with a gasket.  You could paint it it match the body color.

Sounds as if you are missing the wiper arm transmission these are the two parts that stick out from under the dash and they are connected to the wiper motor via meatl arms and when the wiper motor is moving in a circular manner this casues the wiper arms to move back and forth.  So look in your parts book under the wiper section and look for the transmission numbers.

I will tray to find a cros ref number for you.

Oh yeah, forgot about the little oval body that slips over the shafts.

I like this idea. You could use 1/8 aluminum plate, countersink the holes, and paint or round off the edges and polish.

For what its worth I fitted the complete wiper setup from some English car 40 yrs ago.........they use a cable operated system and in theory you can mount the wiper motor in the trunk if need be and the cables long enough......mine is beside the glove box with a mount bolted onto the internal cowl brace and the motor bolted onto that.......the cable which is in a 5/16th steel tube can be bent to fit and the gear set can be mount as per the english car with the wipers pointing in the same direction or one gearset mount upside down to give clapping hand wipers like I have, works fine and simple...........andyd
